How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.

I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.

Care to share?

LOL that's what I say! Let me at your veins! I'm only in the pre-reqs portion of my program so I guess that would be "out" for sure. Enjoy your Fundamentals!!

Good luck on the pre-reqs that was the longest road for me, well there were many detours though. If i could go back to 18 again knowing what I know now, I would have left him and stayed in school........ LOL don't we all think that at some point.

What classes are you taking?

Yeah, I suppose if we all knew then what we know now, our lives might be very different! Ah well! I have 40% of my prereqs out of the way. Right now I'm taking A&PI (two semesters), Human Growth and Development and Nutrition. Next term it's Medical Microbiology and Nursing Foundations I, along with the A&P.

Good luck with all of those classes! I am so glad that I could take only my nursing class this semester because I don't think i would be doing well if I had more than this to worry about...

Going back to University(BSN Coop) tomorrow after a six month leave of absence and I am so excited and so nervous. I finally can start my nursing classes and I want to say thanks to everyone on allnurses.com reading the many different post during the last months has scared me a little *smiling* but it has kept me motivated to finish what I started. THANKS

Hi all! My name's Megan and I'm 22. I am FINALLY in my last semester of a BSN program and can't wait to get out. Best of luck to all of you. Nursing school is a bumpy road that is well worth traveling.

Hi, I'm Brenda. I am done with my prerequrisites and am on the waitlist for a 5 semester ADN program. Am curious to know how long some of you had to wait. Currently the community college says a 3 semester wait, which would have me starting next Summer. I can't wait!

Brenda, where do you live? I actually applied in July and got in in Sept. took everything at once and got done in tow years. There is a wait and they pick and choose, not always fair. I had a 3.8 average the last time I was in school. Nursing programs want students that will make them look good when they take the boards. So my next question is what was your average on your prereqs?

It seems like you have to wait too long. Another thing they will do is start weeding out the ones that will bring their average down. Like the ones with weak grades. You might ask how ,if the grade you have is passing...they will do it subjectively. There are clauses in your curriculum description...if they think you won't be a good pass for the boards...they will get you out in clinical...it is all politics. I am not saying sometimes they are not right but a lot of times they are not and they ruin people. I ma glad I made it but the stress was tough, not the academics. Now I am working, it is really difficult work and I am just now going to schedule for the boards. I needed to calm down after all that stress. Of course working is another stressor....but if you fail the boards you can retake. If you fail out of nursing school there is no way to get back in.

Why don't you try to get in somewhere else, where are you from. Would you be willing to go somewhere else to try to get in?

I would like to know where you are from

Nancy

Hey, I'm Abby :). I'm 20 years old and this is my 3rd year in school (1st year as a nursing student)

Hi,

Im a LPN taking classes at the local college to bridge to RN. I work full time and it is hard. I work 12 hour shifts at night on a busy rehab hospital fri, sat and sun and every other thursday. I had worked alot of agency before I settled into this job. I am currently taking A&P one and it is rather hard. There is no time to do anything but study when I'm off. I have a few more prerequites to take and hopefully I will apply to the nursing program soon.:) I discovered this site and I think that it is a Godsend. Babieface_7

Hi all,

I'm new to the board and just decided to go back to school for Nursing. I got sick of the office environment and I wanted to do nursing all along. Unfortunately, I didn't listen to my gut and just wanted to be out of college asap.. that didn't work! So here I am, currently in a LPN program since the wait list to become an RN was too long. I plan on doing the bridge program to become an RN after I complete this (they really don't have a wait list for this in my area) so I am working around the system to get in done in about the same amount of time! See you guys around!

YOu'e kidding, 21 yrs. ago and you are still haunted?! Did you call for legal advice? I would think after all that time something would be expunged from the record if it wasn't repeated with other similar charges. 21 years ago? It would be worth whatever the cost of a phone call. Depending on the state make sure if you pay someone to expunge it, know how many records it is kept on. Some states keep crimes on two record, one will be expunged but it will show up on another. It seems like it would be worth it. Nancy K
