How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.

Hi everyone! My name is Rhonda, I am in my last semester of an Lpn program...will grad in Dec! I am a mother of 4 children under the age of 10!

I have watching and listening to this site for several months...you guys are awesome!!!!!!

Specializes in OB (with a history of cardiac).

Heya! I'm Gina and I just finished my first week of LPN school. Haven't started Med Surg yet...will do in September. I'm really excited about it; scared to death of clinical--will be at a nursing home, I want to work peeds, but I'll get to it in the spring. I'll just be here though...working my bum off. When I am not in school I work as the lead preschool teacher at this teeny little daycare. I've worked in Child care since I graduated high school a few years back...ok it was 7 years back...who'm I kidding? I wanted to be a pediatrician but several years of chemistry WILL drive you nuts and you WILL fall asleep and dream of the structure of hydrocarbons and cyclic compounds and isomers and stereoisomers...the MADNESS! :barf02: :sofahider  Dang these cute little guys!

Hello everyone.

My name is Dana. I am 24 yrs old, married, mother of 1, LPN for 2 yrs, RN for 1 yr.... I am currently taking prereqs for my BSN.

Congrats to all the new student nurses out there!!!

Hello to all

My name is Elizabeth I am an LPN of 3 years and I am starting the second year of the ADN program. I am very nervous and excited. I have a 17 month old girl and a wonderful husband. :kiss I have to keep telling myself that everything is okay. I found myself hyperventilating yesterday worrying about insignificant things such as highlighters. Good lord am I nervous does anyone have any advice?

Hello Elizabeth, I can feel what your feeling and how anxious you are. Dont sweat the small stuff. You know, while I am giving you advice, I am giving myself the same advice. You will be fine. Just remember to say I can, I will and I want. Your husband will be supportive of you through your schooling. My husband has vowed to help with our 3 kids. All I can do is trust that and follow my dreams. You do the same and let him know that you need him now more than ever. It works. Best Wishes on your journey and beginning of a new life!!!!!

I am a senior nursing student. I am graduating in Dec. of this year (Thank God) and I absolutely love nursing. It's a challenge and sometimes I ask myself am I cut out for this type of work. But then, either in clinical or during lecture or when doing research I am reminded that this is my calling. :coollook:

Hihi

call me Reinier ^^;

I'm 25 with no kids or girlfriend or anything, just a sick mom that needs lots and lots of care.. I see many of the people here with children and problems somehow pull thier way through. Any advice for studying for me? I JUST started this program and I need all the help I can get, I am in NC if that makes any difference with anything...what kinds of things should I get and what kinds of things do I need? I just did my first 2 quizzes and theory test and WOW it's like nothing I've encountered before .. Will I have time to workout and do something BESIDES school too? ^^; Good luck to all!

This is something that I learned the hard way for the last few years. It's simple "All work and no play makes Jill a very dull little girl". I like to say, "All work and no play turns Jill into a very burnt out little girl who eventually starts doing bad in her classes because her body, mind and spirit can't take it and she slips into depression and in the end becomes the little engine that couldn't". Okay that was a lot, but it is exactly what happened to me a few years ago.

But, now I'm the little engine that can. I've learned from my past... I hope at least, and I've found what works for me. For instance, I can't work and go to school. Many people can, but it doesn't work for me. I milked my student loans for all they were worth and I'm living off of those for the semester. I only one day a week and it is after the academic week is over. One of my profs said it best, "You need to work, play and pray". If you can do that successfully, you're okay!

Definitely exercise! It rushes fresh oxygen to your brain to revitalize you, it releases neurochemicals that stimulate and help relieve stress.

Specializes in L&D.

Well I think I have you all beat. I'm 51 years old and starting prereq's for my ADN next week. I've been an LPN for 32 years so I hope it helps LOL!!

I intend to work a weekend program and take a full load of classes.

Allnurses is quickly becoming a daily necessity!!:balloons:

Hello everyone!

I just started my actual nursing classes last week. :) So far, I'm loving it!! I am in a ADN program with five full semesters. We have three semesters of pre-reqs and then we have to get in (no small feat here), then we have our five semesters of real nursing classes.

I'm in a school that's known throughout the area for producing good nurses, so it is in demand. They had 400 applications for 30 seats the year I applied, and it has only gone up from there! I had to wait an extra year before I started, due to the demand. So, that's when I took my EMT training and I LOVED IT!! I'm going in emergency nursing as soon as I can!

I want to work in a third world country when I get done. Diasters, war clean-up, here I come!

But, first I must pass this Foundations test... I should be studying...
