I was told I am in need of an intervention because I could not contain my excitement over this:
It's a notebook. Single-subject, college-ruled, perforated for easy tearing out when necessary, with a pocket in the front and a moveable divider with a pocket. There are post-it tabs for creating tabs in notes and my favorite part of all...... In front of the paper is 6 blank month calendars with large enough squares to write assignments. Oh, yes, this is my Mecca of notebooks. It is exactly how I organize myself, only Staples realized this is the way I organize myself, so they put it all in one perfect place and sealed it up with a very durable covering. I am the ecstatic. And it was less than $6 at Staples.
And then! Oh, yes, and THEN!
I bought a binder. Not just any binder, but the binder to rule all binders. I bought tabs numbered 1-24, and I bought a 5-pack of blank tabs. I also have some sheet protectors laying around. Numbers 13-24 will be for years 2013-2024, and numbers 1-12 will be for months. I'll keep copies of any certifications with expiration dates organized by when they expire. During the current year, I'll have the month tabs so I can stay on top of things as each month gets here. For the unlabeled tabs, I'll have clinical and work experience listed by hand, with a few details (like instructors, dates, institutions, etc), awards and recognitions, resumes and application letters, diplomas/degrees, and relevant correspondence to my career/education.
I am embracing my dorkdom quite proudly today. I thought I'd share in case anyone else might enjoy these types of organizational tools for themselves!
And it was mini??? Tell me more!!!!!
It's a little chubby for a mini, but that makes it all the cuter IMO. The only fault I find with it is that I wish it was orange and hot pink instead of yellow & hot pink (plus I wish the plastic was glossy instead of matte, LOL). It does come in other color combinations for those who don't do hot pink
So far, I haven't had any problems using it to remove staples or to staple things, but I am concerned that if I don't use care, that the little storage compartment lid could break one day.

The one that I got is like the pink one in the link, but the parts that look pale yellow in the picture are a very vibrant (fluorescent even?) yellow. I got mine at a local office supply store.
I'm a huge school supply geek. Can I join your group? My son and I are heading out today, the 2nd day of his summer break to buy his supplies for next year. I can't buy my stuff until my NS orientation on June 15th. I hope I have an excuse to buy more stuff, since I have a lot from all my prereqs. I definitely need a bigger lunch box, and scrubs, and a stethoscope, but I want to buy new binders and notebooks and gadgets.
One of the fun things about going into nursing management or education is that you get to rekindle your school supply fetish. Only instead of calling them "school supplies," we call them "office supplies."
One of the highlights here at my hospital is the annual "office supply fair." We all take the stuff we don't use to the conference room and get rid of it ... and we can pick up the stuff left by other people for FREE! Staples was also at the fair with a few little give-aways -- and free preferred customer cards that gives us a little discount when we do our personal shopping there.
:w00t:
You have us all salivating over your "organized" notebook, but you didn't tell us what it's called!!! I'm looking on Staples website but can't find it.
Its a Staples brand and its called ACCEL (or at least that's what it says in the right hand lower corner). However, what they show online for the ACCEL doesn't seem to be the one with the rule, post its etc. I got mine in the store, I didn't get it online. Hope this helps some.
