I need an Intro to Soc this upcoming semester, Jan 2011. Is there any online college that is likely to still have seats open at this late date? Has to be totally online; no travel anyplace for exams, and no get-a-local-proctor stuff. I was going to try to CLEP out but that is not possible b/c my financial aid requires me to be a full time student, so that 3cr has to be in the mix.
Thanks.

Edukan offers totally online courses EXCEPT your final has to be proctored..all other tests during the semester are not. you dont have to send transcripts either unless you are taking an English or Math class.
so if you are willing to have just one test proctored Edukan might be your best bet..they have 3 schedules to pick from during the semester...usually a 12 week, 10 week and an 8 week.

Virtually everything I looked at a couple of days ago was closed or waitlisted so I am looking at summer term now. You might want to seek a school with rolling registration for online courses. UNE offers this for their science prerequisite courses, perhaps other courses can be taken with them this way.

Online Degree Forum: Discuss online colleges, programs, and courses might be a forum to search for online college info.
clovis.edu was recommended
MCC Online | Mesa Community College is another that got good recommendations
Be sure to Google the school's name and "review" or "forum" to see what comments others have about those schools.
I have read some really bad reviews of Rio Salado, but most of those came from Mac computers users who said the online system doesn't work well with Macs.
I signed up for the Soc 101 at Rio Salado. If anyone had a good or bad experience with RS or that particular RS class, please let me know. $660 plus the $50 for the special book. There are payment options. For an additional $20 you can pay it off in 1/4s as 1/4 down and 1/4 each month for 3 more months.
I also have bought the CLEP Sociology study guide, and I have the Rodney Stark "Sociology" textbook that I got for $1 at at thrift store, and will use those as backup if the special Rio Salada book is inadequate.
There are probably other places that I could do this online, but I was in a hurry to land a seat so that I don't have to commute for a dinky sociology course in winter. (I'm out in the sticks and we get huge snowfalls.)
