Interviewing an Emergency Nurse

Published

Hello everyone,

I'm a new grad currently working towards my emergency nursing certificate. I currently have an assignment to complete which involves interviewing an emergency nurse. Since I am a new grad who is currently unemployed, I do not know any emergency nurses that I can interview. For this reason, I was hoping that there would be a kind emergency nurse out there that would be willing to help me out.

Thanks in advance!

do you need a face to face/online interview or is an e-mail type sufficient, that will help finding someone to do it.

Through email is sufficient!

Specializes in Education.

Have you tried simply calling a local ED?

Specializes in psych, addictions, hospice, education.

an email interview isn't what your instructor intended...

Specializes in Urology.

Try going to your local ED and asking the manager. I'm sure they would be happy to help out!

Specializes in Peds/Neo CCT,Flight, ER, Hem/Onc.

What kind of emergency nursing certificate is this? Are you in the US?

Thanks everyone, I think I'm going to try my local ED. I was hesitant about this at first cause I didn't want to be a bother by going there just to find someone to interview, but ill give this a try. Its an online course for an emergency nursing certificate program in Ontario.

Call me crazy but I think interviewing via email would be more than sufficient. Especially since it's an online course. Your instructor would never know and you would get the same information anyway!

In a face-to-face interview, you can get information that's not on the question list, that can be very interesting. You can also build a bit of a network for the future.

The teacher would never know??? Wouldn't that be cheating??? Hmmm...

Okay that makes way more sense to me now because in the US we have a CEN course that requires a certain amount of experience as is rather difficult. Something a new grad should not tackle.

I don't think so. The student would still be completing the assignment and if it wasn't otherwise specified...don't really see a problem.

But OP let us know what you decide to do, hope you get some good information for your assignment :).
