I have a interview for PreK-5th grade school nurse next week and I am nervous. I have done home health and worked in nursing homes. Past 2 almost 3 years I have worked at a state supported living center and have worked with many individuals with developmental disabilities. I feel that this has helped me with working with seizures, autism, down syndrome etc. I am really needing this position as it will be better schedule wise for my family. I am just nervous what is usually covered in a School Nurse Interview?
Thanks

Peruse the last 2 pages of threads, a few questions about interviews, with pretty thorough answers. Look over the rest of the forum for typical scenarios, these nurses are a wealth of knowledge. Good luck.

Wow, we have a pretty similar work history. I started at a center for people with DD's, then moved to nursing home, landing finally in Home Health for many years. Crazy!
As for the interview, good luck! I kind of fell into my position, so no interview help - but like MrNurse said, there are a couple really good recent threads with lots of advice and scenarios.
Let us know how it goes!

Don't be nervous. Own it. Convince yourself they NEED you, then convince them with your confidence.
Shoot it, stuff it, hang it on the wall...
Seriously, though...You have to believe it is right for you. If you believe it, they will too. Trust me.

In addition to the usual skills, etc. the biggest things I look for are a real love for working with kids and a real desire to work at school and not just for the schedule.
Ok another question what should I wear to interview? I will be leaving from work and going straight to interview? I am normally in scrubs or jeans and polo shirt with our logo.
Do you have time to change? I always dress for success for an interview. Tailored slacks, nice blouse, blazer. Hasn't failed me yet.
Dress like you mean it.
