Hi everyone! I am currently a student nurse in the Caribbean and was considering to come to the states to work. Do I need to first be registered here in the Caribbean (Trinidad) as a RN before I can come up to take the nclex rn ? I really need your advice!

Are you going to be eligible for some visa that will allow you to work in the US? People can't just decide they want to come work here and then come. And whether or not you would need a license from your home area would depend on which US state you're interested in. Each state licenses and regulates the practice of nursing within its own borders, and sets the requirements for licensure that it considers appropriate and necessary. Some states require international nurses to have a "home" license to be eligible for licensure in that state, and some don't.
Best wishes!

You can't just come up and take the NCLEX. You must graduate then apply for a nursing license by examination as an internationally educated nurse and follow the BoN instructions

I came here from the UK in 2003 with a green card and took the NCLEX while my application was pending. I went through an agency though and they handled everything. I'm not even sure that visa is eligible for nurses anymore, of if the requirements have changed. It took me 3 years to complete the process and actually get to the states. It may take longer now due to wait times.
