want to apply for tourist visa for nclex exam

Hi, here I am again asking your good hearts as to enlighten me on this one. Right now I plan to take my nclex exam in hongkong but I am entertaining the possibility of acquiring a tourist visa to tour and sit for the exam somewhere in the US. Is it possible? I heard that it is a no no to apply for a tourist visa since there is a great possibility that it will be denied and there were instances wherein some were denied of entry from the immigration in the US and sent back to the Philippines immediately. But recently I learned that it is ok to have a tourist visa and use it to take the exam and stay there permanently though I have no intentions of staying there illegally but just to tour and take the exam there.

Applying for a visa with NCLEX as your reason is a gamble. There is a high probability that you will be denied because the consul may say that you can take it in Hongkong.

You should have a good reason (and a lot of money to show) to apply for tourist visa to be granted one. And make sure you show evidence that you will return such as family ties, properties, business, etc.

Once you have a visa, you will not be denied entry just because you say your will take NCLEX. It is just that you will be subject of a deeper interrogation such as return ticket, etc.

yeah i agree... they might say to you "why not take it to HK?..."

they will think that if ever you pass the nclex, there is a possibility that you wont leave...

taking the nclex in the US is not a good reason...

Thank you so much futureusrn and kathy, yeah, I know that it will be hard but I already went to hongkong just twice, I also want to try new country to visit esp in the US where I can bring my daughter like in disneyland florida or anywhere with disneyland coz they said disney in hk is the smallest and I want to try others at least with another reason and not just to sit for the exam. The problem is I am a housewife so there's a big possibility of being denied, if so, will it affect my future applications like for greencard (if and when....already in that process) Anybody like me tried to apply for a tourist visa just to take the exam? Kindly share your experiences, thank you very much

Never do that, esepcially from the Philippines. Bad reason to want to come to the US, especially since there are so many centers in your area that are much closer to you.

Japan, Seoul, Saipan, Taiwan just to name a few.

No way would I even suggest that you try a tourist visa to the US with the sole reason to give them as wishing to take the NCLEX exam.

my gf is a nurse in the philippines she already have a tourist visa and she's planning for a vacation here in US. is the US immigration will allow her to enter in the US? do you have any idea i min about the interview with immigration what will the immigration will gonna ask? any best reason why she wanted for a vacation here in US if the immigration will ask her. pls share any advice. thank you

They can ask her anything, tell her to only answer what is asked and be truthful. Also bring proof on return back to the Philippines like rent book, letter from employer stating expected to be back o work on x date etc
