Have you got a link to show this?

Post the link because as far as I can see the Boards still require general training first & foremost.

HI im trying to find out all information, but i saw the ad in the rcn weekly magazine, under o grady peyton it said something like this, 'after much lobbying with the immigration authorities, but we are pleased to announce that they now recognise the pediatric nurse qualification on parts 15 of the register or child branch ...something like that. However, you still need to have the rquired hours in all areas, rang o grady peyton up couldnt beleive my eyes, and they sed they have an open day next month in london, and will be recrutiting pediatric nurses, and some of the children hospitals in america are already participating.

this doesnt seem to make sense to me
so if you are registered as a nurse on part 15 of the register you can go to the usa but only if you have done all the different hours in the required areas?
it does sound like a bit of a contradiction really
but, who am i to question ogp? after all they dont get much wrong

no thats ok, you need the required hours like you do in general nursing, medical , surgical, peads, psychiatry, maternity so if you was training, you could do an elective in a child psychiatric ward...

Harsh but true comes to mind

sounds to me like all they're saying is that if you did the old RGN style training & then went on to to the RSCN (as it was then ) then some hospitals in the USA recognise that RSCN as a qualification to nurse children.

So not much difference really because you still need to do all the required hours of general training.

With all this contract stuff going on at OGP I don't think I'd be touching them with a 10 foot long greasy barge pole, personally of course!!

no they are not saying that at all actually. You can be child branch trained from the start to go. Anyway i rang up the immigration authorities, and they confirmed it to me. Anyway thats that, and somehow my positive outlook on this seems to have diminished. Thanks for the support!

is that a sarcastic comment i spy???
actually, what we are trying to say is dont believe everything a nursing agency may tell you, they dont really want to help you, generally they want to help themselves to earn money, and i dont just mean this agency, i mean agencies in general, but im sure you know all this anyway.
im glad however that you have been able to confirm things with immigration, thats good news for lots of people, you must be really pleased
