Retrogression is confusing me!
Hi all, Well I have been lurking on this forum for a while now, and fully aware of the retrogression that is in place. I have prepared myself for the fact that it will be a long time before I could get to the states, maybe even 7 years.. However, I am just reading todays nursing standard, and there is an ad stating in big letters " BEAT THE RETROGRESSION "...and a recruitment company is now recruiting for nurses to go there, saying if they have CGFNS & NCLEX they qualify for fast track, and will get them there in 9-15 months..???? I now dont understand. I have just emailed them, to ask if this is a blatant lie, as I am now confused with all the conflicting information I am recieving. Aparently this recruitment company isnt an agency as such, as they put you in direct contact with the hospital..and it also looks like you would have to commit to an 18 month - 24 month contract.. I guess I just dont know what to believe any more.. http://www.unihealthamerica.com/html/about/index.asp Monique x

Hours required in each feild for licensure as RN in USA
yes but your training was better then, we dont qualify with all those hours now...the requirement for the nmc is 2300 practical.

update on UK TO USA
Sometimes I think I may as well just go to medical school anyway if its going to take ages.

update on UK TO USA
How long do you think this retrogression will take to lift? Im kinda lucky that in my training I have had hours in all of the areas..ive got another 15 months left..and after I finish, I will to get some experience. I think ill start studying the NCLEX as soon as I qualify, alongside working as a NQ nurse. Im just worried ill qualify and the wait will be something ridiculous like 10 years by then:confused:.

Time frame uk-usa
Hi I am currently in the second year of my nursing degree. I hope to become dual qualified in peads also. I have had a read of some of the international threads, and I just wanted to know how long would it take for a UK citizen to immigrate to the US. I dont want to go with an agency, I plan on doing it all myself. I was curious about the length of time it would take, if I tried to get a direct hire position.. Any info would be greatly appreciated Monique x

Pediatric Nurses can now go to the usa!!!!
no they are not saying that at all actually. You can be child branch trained from the start to go. Anyway i rang up the immigration authorities, and they confirmed it to me. Anyway thats that, and somehow my positive outlook on this seems to have diminished. Thanks for the support!

Pediatric Nurses can now go to the usa!!!!
no thats ok, you need the required hours like you do in general nursing, medical , surgical, peads, psychiatry, maternity so if you was training, you could do an elective in a child psychiatric ward...

Pediatric Nurses can now go to the usa!!!!
HI im trying to find out all information, but i saw the ad in the rcn weekly magazine, under o grady peyton it said something like this, 'after much lobbying with the immigration authorities, but we are pleased to announce that they now recognise the pediatric nurse qualification on parts 15 of the register or child branch ...something like that. However, you still need to have the rquired hours in all areas, rang o grady peyton up couldnt beleive my eyes, and they sed they have an open day next month in london, and will be recrutiting pediatric nurses, and some of the children hospitals in america are already participating.
