Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

I'm not really a registered user from the forum that I got all of these from but I will register and post it anyway.
Complaints are only natural to any organisation and it would be beneficial for them to hear it as it paves way to improvement. Some OS applicants have high expectations from AHPRA and their complaints will only keep on coming if not met.
A single email to update us with our applications would have been OK. I understand what you are trying to say though.
Let's just hope for the best and good luck. :)
I understand that everwhere in the world at the moment is feeling the economic pinch and Australia looks a good option, but we do not owe every person who is considered an RN in their own country - a license and a job.
If anyone came to my office after flying around the world demanding a nursing license I would have them arrested for bullying. Then put their application to the bottom of the pile.
No one listens........the Victorian nursing board kept excepting applications to the end of their reign and so did some other boards.....this is the main reason that they have such a backlog. AND nurses from overseas knew this was happening and so therefore applied ALOT right at the end, because they did not know how the new national board was going to assess their applications.
why do nurses from overseas have high expectations of our new national board!!? so do I , to keep nurses that are obviously not educated enough or proficient with english out until proficient! to keep Australians safe by checking identity as this has been questionable in the past. I know it was, personal experience with an immigrant nurse had used false documents and therefore was not a nurse and did not speak a work hardly of english.... client nearly died
These posts are not against Australians or their country. This is about the system of an organisation. An organisation that is highly competent in their pursuit for public safety. An organisation so new that is inefficient at the moment. An organisation that would welcome complaints and feedbacks from their applicants, overseas or not.
Of all the threads that I have read, not one mentioned specifically of Australians, their character, origin and their attitude towards people from overseas. I believe that people go to Australia because its a great country. Period. I never thought that people from other countries are not welcome in Oz.
Please don't take this negatively. This is not about you. THis is about AHPRA.
I knew it! That's why the Philippines and the Filipinos are always at the very end of the litany. Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! Florence Nightingale, pray for Noynoy Aquino! Ahihi! This is just my opinion based from what I've read in the previous posts. Fellow Filipinos, I believe in you! Wahahahaha! OMG I am so patriotic all of a sudden! LMAO
Hello!!! I went to PRC Baguio Office this morning to request a copy of Certificate of good standing. The window staff who is in-charge of sending documents abroad told me that there were 20 -plus aspiring AUS-RN who requested Certificate of good standing to be sent to APHRA. Most of the applicants however choose either Sydney and Melbourne offices as the destination of their certificates. With that, I was told that I was the first who sent a certification of g.s to other states/territory ( NT APHRA).Hence, I suggest to those who are still planning to send their application to send it in other aphra offices to avoid getting in queue and consequently, have to wait a longer time before one receives an assessment. Anyway, once we receive our eligibility letter, we can apply to any BP providers in any state.
This is only my humble suggestion. It is up to you guys where will you send your application. :):):):):redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe
My internet lover lives in Darwin. Heeheeheeheeh!

I strongly agree!!!
Just wanted to share:
What a relief for me, whew! I have an eligibility letter from NMBWA dated August 3, 2010. When I asked the board back then, they couldn't give me a clear response as to if this letter will be honored by AHPRA when they join the national scheme. So after 2 months of constant inquiries, just today, I received an email from the registrations officer of AHPRA confirming that I can use the eligibility letter to apply for a course which can lead me to registration until August 3, 2013. I can finally pay for the non-refundable 1,000 AUD Enrollment Fee at VCHN without doubts! :) Yey!
I passed my documents personally to AHPRA Victoria this morning so I took the opportunity to talk to the person who received my application. She told me that from the applications they have, 80% are coming from nurses. There's a huge pile of applications in queue. According to her, what happens is that they schedule the assessment of documents based on the date they were submitted. And by the time they go further, they have to go back to some which then lengthens the process. When I asked how long it would take for me to get a response, she couldn't give me an answer because even she can't tell. She just advised me to call and follow up from time to time.
I also opened up the theory you guys were talking about. She agreed that Victoria and NSW are the busiest of all the states. But she told me that if you have indicated in your application the state where you would want to work and submitted your docs in a different one, then they will pass your application to the state you plan to do your nursing. (I think this is the question to #6 in AGOS-04, for those of you who answered it).
So I guess we just have to be patient and more understanding because they too are having a hard time keeping up with the demands from all their applicants.

Remember the discussions that we have about our "theory" that many RNs send applications in Victoria, and i questioned that why dont you send it in other state?? well i guess, the theory seems true, and here we are, some victoria applications forwarded to nsw...
(..unadunad you will be sending applications to NT?? go ahead bro, it's simple logic/mathematics as we have explained the "theory" way back then.. i even recommended to send application in hobart..)
as i have mentioned before, AHPRA is still in transition mode, if anyone have experienced working in a company in transition mode then he/she will surely understand the situation...
remember, sometime in 2008-2009, it takes QNC 4-6 months to process applications... NZ processes 3-4 months.. USA, depending on the state, takes 3-6 months, some even 9 months (mine was 6 months processing there)... as long as they received completely your documents, then i think it is quite early to whine..
a nursing license in the Phils. is a privilege not a right, moreso if we are applying license in another country... let's deal with this fairly.. yah i know, it is easy for me to say it becoz i already have my license, but what else could i do but to assist/advise/share as much as i can... do some community work while waiting, like volunteering in home for the aged or orphaned kids center...
good luck..
