Hello All

I was just wondering how the rest of the country is getting on with the 'agenda for change'? I'm an E grade and still haven't been 'banded' but all my D & F grades colleagues have been banded and paid, some more handsome amount than others. I have read how it is supposed to work ie how the banding & pay is calculated but the way the whole thing has been introduced is rather confusing :o .

Is there anyone out there able to explain plz? :crying2:

What bit of it confuses you?

Each job is analysed on some basic issues, and points awarded for those. The points are all added up and then the final 'score' is looked upon on a chart to give you your banding.

Because some jobs match a national profile, they are assimilated fairly fast and those folk are paid. It sounds like your job might not have been a 'match' and so will have had to be evaluated further to make sure you are given the banding and pay that your role deserves.

If you have specific questions, can I suggest you talk to the JE staffside reps in your organisation? They will be only too delighted to talk to you about it.

Good luck with your AfC banding!

We have only just recieved our job descriptions for agenda for change!! and have not recieved our banding or pay yet!! I work in a Paediatric Ward and apparantly our jobs have been a nightmare to do because it is quite a complicated ward and complicated patients.. Here's hoping it get sorted out soon!

Some nurses will gain very little, others will gain a lot - the emphasis is that no-one should lose out though. If you only get £3 does this mean that now you will start getting increments again when you did not before?

I've just been told that as an E Grade ED nurse, I'll be a band 6, which is better than the initial reports of E grades being band 5 no matter which speciality they work. My collegue got her first band 6 paycheck last month and had a payrise of £300, I hope mine is as good :)

Some of my colleagues have recieved their banding & AFC money, I have asked ( coz I'm nosey!! ) and it was so varied; from £160 to £500.

That's why I was confused.

Thank you :wink2:

I have read the 'guide'/ info booklet and have done my own nosey...ing around, my colleagues were paid such a big varying sum ( from £160 - £500+ ). It was explained to me that maybe, sum got their total 'lump sum backpaid' where as the others only got a part of what they are due to recieve. Either way, I hope I do get more than £3!!! :lol2:

I guess the variation is because of years of service... banding still exists within AFC, so I earn more than some of my senior collegues because I have been qualified longer, of course that works the other way around!

I'm as nosey as you, on pay-day last month, I asked everyone about their pay, it was varied, but all E grades were on band 6, though some earning more or less than others.

I stupidly forgot to put in my extra duty hours last month, not realising that it was a five week pay month, I'm soooo kicking myself now, I lose about £250 from not putting them in, if not more. Grrr! On the plus side, even tho the tax man will get more, my payslip should look healthy at the end of this month :)
