this should be interesting..

Second random testing selection in my contract thus far.. on a saturday. Option seven.

I finally found a place to go. Googled the test number while I was waiting and it appears to be for alcohol. I don't know if that one includes other substances in that test or if i am even right.

So for 61$ I will test positive because I drank at my husbands holiday party last night.

Heres the thing. Per my contract I am allowed alcohol or am not required to abstain in other words. This surprises everyone, even my lawyer was shocked to see this.

I wonder if this is a random holiday time-day-after run of the mill test they are probably giving a lot of folks who may make a poor decision in the spur of the moment. If so.. theres 61$ flushed for no reason at all.

I worried about this happening when i saw my luck at not having to avoid alcohol. Maybe I'm blowing it all out of proportion. Maybe they will acknowledge my contract without this turning into a thing. Maybe ill test positive for meth because I took my prescription decongestant a week ago after getting pneumonia. Maybe thc because i took ibuprofen.

This monitoring has me anxious as @#$%, looking over my shoulder constantly, and completely miserable.

You are allowed to drink while in monitoring land?!?!? You lucky lucky lucky nurse. I am envious. It is $61 bucks down the drain and makes no sense at all. How can you be in "recovery" and still be able to drink? Mind you this isn't my version of recovery. I feel as long as you can handle yourself you can do whatever you want but the 12 steppers won't swallow that. Even in the couple NA meetings I went to (hate them!!! stinky people tried to hug me) someone also pitches in that "alcohol is a drug". Our Christmas party was last night and I had diet coke. Lucky!!! I'm envious!!!

Are you certain that the allowed drinking wasn't some kind of administrative mistake?

Specializes in OR.

Someone that pitches the alcohol is a drug ought to be reminded that nicotine is too before they go out and fire up that marlboro after the meting.

If it was an administrative mistake by them, it will be considered your fault and a relapse and grounds for more treatment/vacuuming of money from your pockets.

Oh and just for giggles, in the midst of this post, I got the ad for the "Appalachian Sipping Cream" ......in pecan and Lemon.....

In my contract it says clearly that I am not required to abstain. My lawyer said she has seen it before but that it is rare. It is not an administrative mistake.

I asked her how I got so lucky and she had no idea. I thinks because they took THREE years to get to me while I did not work as a nurse, didn't get into trouble, never had a positive test, there was no sign of diversion, I immediately went into treatment and they had proof of that, and I didn't speak with an investigator and shoot myself in the foot. Which I most certainly would have...

My fear is that this positive (if I am correct in assuming this is for alcohol - the chain of custody form has the lab code and google told me it was..) that they will decide that maybe they should add that.. or refuse to acknowledge my contract.

You know.. guilty until proven innocent.

Truly a recovering addict should most certainly not drink of course. Thankfully for me more than one glass of wine give me horrible migraines. Alcohol is NOT my friend :) The bon has me on contract for admitting to smoking THC but no positive test was ever given. Only negative.

Oh good grief!!! I hope they don't punish you for NOT violating your contract. That would be most stupid even by their "standards"

Well.... you know. I wouldn't be surprised at all frankly.

Me neither but it would be nonsense. It says that you don't have to abstain from alcohol in your contract and you didn't. This could be a time to whip out the digital device and call your lawyer. If they wrote something they didn't mean in their own contract then tough titty to them

You didn't violate your contract by consuming alcohol. I'm not sure what they can get you on. It's all about the contract and the wording in the contract.

Call me stupid but I've googled it and there's no contract that allows drinking. If it's an error then you're in big trouble. Just because it doesn't mention alcohol doesn't mean you can partake in it. Mine doesn't mention meth or cocaine😀😀😀😀. Anywho, what exactly does your order say, my lawyer needs to hear about this ASAP.

I've actually heard of contracts that don't prohibit drinking. I want to say in Ohio or some Midwestern state but not here in Pennsylvania. Personally I don't see anything wrong with it. Alcohol is legal in all 50 states so long as you are not impaired at work the world should butt out of your life. If you are impaired at work that's an entirely different issue

Omg!!!!! Lucky you! I'm still pissed I can't have my once a year glass of wine on Christmas. This is probably a breeze then for you. I say you didn't do anything wrong. Let's say it was their mistake... you have a paper trail that states otherwise.
