Hello all!

I am applying to the CRNA program at Inter Amer Arecibo for 2015 and was wondering if there are any CRNA graduates from that program? Was it difficult to get through the program with English being your first language? Were the people receptive to mainlanders? Was it difficult for you to get a job in the mainland? How was your experience overall and would you recommend the program for a mainlander whose first language is English?

I would love to talk to you and ask more questions, but I just joined and I can't private message yet. I've been accepted to Inter and I'm wondering what the job market in the US is for graduates from there. Please PM me. Thank you

hello Marishkarn, did you apply to University of Puerto Rico? If so, what was the turn out?

Specializes in RN-BC, CCRN, TCRN, CEN.

Curious as to what happened after the hurricane?? Will they offer an economic stimulus package to move to PR? (in my dreams). Is the university still operating?

Hello how are you, I wanted to do a update with you about the CRNA school in PR. Im sure by now you have completed the program. can you give me some more information please. What was there requirement in order to get accepted to the program.

Hello,

I am interviewing for both Interamerican and University of Puerto Rico CRNA schools. Can anyone give me some feed back on their experience with the education given there and with the interview process?

Thank you

Puerto Rico CRNA programs, despite being very affordable, do not provide adequate training for working in the US mainland.

Also, AANA makes it difficult for graduates of these programs to obtain licensure in the states too.

ICUman, can you elaborate on how and why does the AANA make it difficult for graduates of CRNA programs in Puerto Rico to obtain licensure in the states? Thanks in advance.

To my understanding it's because their clinical experiences are bare bones and some of the curriculum isn't up to par. Also they have very little exposure with nerve blocks which causes an issue in workplace environments.

AANA has no authority over licensing in a state. The NBCRNA controls the certification exam and most states will license based on the certification exam. So if someone passes the exam a state will license them.

My mistake. I spoke to a graduate of a PR anesthesia program and they had told me that receiving approval to work in the main states was more of a hassle than it would be if graduating from a mainland program. I don't know much about it.
