Initial Drug Test

Hello,

I have a question, I'm finishing up nursing school and I was drug testing for a possible position but I failed for THC, I had not smoked for 6 months and didn't think I would come out positive but unfortunately I did, it was for 30nanograms and the test limit is 15, not like it matters, but my question is, is this drug test going to get back to my school and the Board of Registered Nursing? I'm in California, what are my options? Is this going to mark the rest of my career?

It was actually a mistake, it was from a vape pen I didn't know had weed in it, which is why I didn't think I would be positive for it it was all weird, but anyway I don't need to explain myself to anyone not like you've never made mistakes, and I said thanks for your judgement I didn't say anything about it being wrong blah blah are you on this page just to look for **** to start?

I'm judging you, I admit it. I have no sympathy for those that choose to partake in illegal activities and then whine about the consequences they face. None.

During summer break yes, again that isn't my question but thanks for the judgement

Well if you actually read and understand what's being said I never whined about anything I asked if anyone knew the possible consequences, i never asked for sympathy or advice I asked if anyone knew what can happen, so read to understand, I've never even had a parking or speeding ticket so if you have take a breath and think before you post

Since you were not an employee and you are not a nurse yet, I don't see how the employer has an obligation to report positive test results to the BRN or your nursing school. My guess is you will be listed as not eligible for hire with that employer and that will be the end of it, but you should ask a lawyer familiar with nursing license issues your question.

I believe this is what you call kicking someone when they're down.

No, it's telling someone who told on themselves in an online forum how stupid they were. Smoking dope while in nursing school? And then testing twice as high as the threshold six months later? I don't buy it. Methinks this person was smoking close to the drug test time.

I tested positive once, retested myself at the same clinic and was negative for everything so thanks but no

no, they shouldn't report back to board, as you were not hired

Well, you're certainly not alone. These, "I'm high right now don't judge me just love me why are you so mean" threads seem to be popping up like flowers in the spring.

It sounds like your timing was luckier than most though, so you'll get a second chance. A nurse I work with once asked me if I wanted to snort some white power off the counter because it would give me energy. I asked him what it was and he said he wasn't sure, but that it was from China. I though about it for half a second and passed. Don't smoke or snort or bathe in anything unless you know what it is.

Good luck in the future.

I hope you reported him..!

I'm surprised they considered 30 ng/dl to be positive (unless this was your confirmation test results). In my opinion, I don't think your career is ruined & I'm glad your school won't report you to the board. I hope they'll allow you to graduate. Just know for future purposes, that we can be fired from the hospital on the spot for having the Lord's Leaf in our system, AND be reported to the BON for years-long monitoring. Even by being in the same area as Ganja fumes, we can get THC in our systems. Good luck to you, and keep us posted on how it all turns out!

update I called the HR for this hospital and they told me I will not be reported to the BRN or my school due to me not being licensed yet so I just can't reapply with them for 180 days, so I'll be okay I have offers from other hospitals I'll retest myself when I can afford it and once I get a few negatives I'll be ready to restart, so thank you all for your Two cents I'll definitely never let myself be in this situation again I'll leave this up for anyone else who needs answers

OK- I am really intrigued here.

You accidentally ingested the weed that caused you to fail a drug test?

I am sure this is possible, just like at some point some kid's dog actually ate his homework. (My dog would do it.)

No judgement from me, I truly care not whether you smoke weed, but did you seriously accidentally ingest enough THC to fail a test 6 months later?
