I have a friend whose little boy trys to squirt handsoap in his mouth all the time. What are the dangers besides upsetting his tummy. He is only three and everything still goes to the mouth.

Other than "FARTING BUBBLES," he could have some issues with diarrhea and some potential gastritis.
OFF TOPIC
The worst examples of soap ingestion and the problems it caused I've ever read about was in the book "A Boy Called It" by Dave Pelzer. A tragic story of how a man was repeatedly abused and neglected and learned to overcome that in his life. There is a whole series of these books that help you see how a child's mind deals with such abuse, and how it affects them as they grow up. I would highly recommend this series to anyone who has dealt with, or deals with children or adolescents who have been abused.

You can look up any brand here.
Perhaps the boy's mother may wish to start purchasing bar soap instead of liquid soap. This might take care of the handsoap ingestion issues.
I work with mentally/physically challenged people, and I've seen them eat bar soap. I've never seen anyone get any gastrointestinal distress from it....maybe they didn't get enough of it, tho.
But I've seen these people eat lots of different things. Some will eat straight butter, off the big blocks, and straight coffee out of the can, if they can find it without getting caught first.
Um....if he keeps trying to drink it, she needs to switch to bar soap or hide the soap. Trust me....as a mom of 3 youngins...I'm dealing with these fun problems too:rolleyes:
We had a pt (LTC...dememtia....wanderer) drink a bottle of soap of course this was right after eating a plant and the dirt:chuckle I think I looked up the MSDS sheet for it and called poison control. Yep she did have the runs, so we did labs and encouraged fluids.
I'd try to prevent it from happening first.
