I am currently an lpn looking for a online RN course that will allow me the flexibility to move out of state and continue working without costing an arm and a leg. I found my least expensive route would be lpn to RN, then RN to BSN. The only possible schools I've found are excelsior and isu.
Excelsior sounded nice up until I found that some states won't let you sit for your boards if you have a degree from Excelsior. Isu seems to be the better choice, but because it's so expensive I didn't really want to complete the whole course at isu. I was planning to transfer.
I was wondering if it was possible for me to take enough of the nursing courses to qualify for the associate level RN boards? Has anyone tried this before?
I already emailed ISU and they of course stated that they don't offer a ASN. But I am determined to make a way for my degree.

Neither school is accepted by CABRN. Some states will only license Excelsior Grads by endorsement
ISU's distance degree is not accepted at all by CA, NY and others (map on website)
Both schools allow you to earn your prerequisite credits by other means (local county college, CLEP exams, etc)
Be sure to speak directly not only with admissions reps from the school's but also nursing department or academic advising. No school will not evaluate your credits until you pay and apply but both have degree planning tools on their website.
Depending on your state WGU hybrid may be an option or Alleghaney (I think that's the name) in Maryland
There is no fully online entry to practice RN programs. All require in person clinical assessments.
I wasn't quite looking for a completely online bsn
I liked the fact that isu allows students to pick a local clinical site. WGU has a good program, but upon speaking to the reps they let me know their program is highly competitive. I was trying to avoid getting waitlisted.
ISU is highly competitive only admitting 20-30 students per cohort

The map on the ISU website indicates states which allow / don't allow students IN those states to complete the LPN-BS Track in those states...it does NOT refer to whether those states accept nurses with degrees from ISU to be licensed in those states. Said map located at http://www.indstate.edu/health/sites/health.indstate.edu/files/bnc-states-that-recognize-isu-lpn-bs.pdf
