Nursing Students Indiana (ISU)

moderator note: this is a continuation of a previous thread that was very long and split by member request. this thread is primarily for current student discussion. there is another thread of faq: https://allnurses.com/distance-learning-nursing/isu-faq-thread-365878.html

we had to take micro, stats, math, biology, couple of humanities, etc, etc. maybe she meant that's just the one specific to nursing, as in in addition to the rest of the gen eds? anyway, good luck on both your applications!

Before I even apply, I need to know the equivalency of these courses. for instance is Biology 241L a Micro with lab class?

the same for Biology 274L

Math111--Is this algebra 1??

Communications is this speech? I don't want to take classes that I don't need at my CC

Comm 101 is a speech class. As for the rest, I have noooo idea. That's definitely a question for someone in the admissions office. :)

Hey guys,

I was looking at my DARS and I don't see where Statistics is. I need to take that this summer? at my local college but want to make sure it is a requirement. Can anyone find it in there DARS?

This semester is soooo busy for me as I am taking College Algebra ,Computer Inf Systems, my TEAS Test and all 4 CSM by June 1st! (and Stats this summer) ISU in the fall with all non-nursing classes done except Spanish and PE. Let this be an inspiration to anyone out there with 0 credits. I started with nothing 4 years ago. I know it is a long road but when taken slowly allowing for bumps and potholes along the way, it is awesome and very doable!

(Did I mention I work full-time? and have a family) OK, enough bragging.....

Have a great week!

Hi,

Thanks a ton....I found it. Does anyone know how many credits you have to take in the summertime to be able to use financial aid? Is it still a minimum of 6 credits? Also, has anyone tried to do a consortium with another school to try and take a class at a different school and use financial aid? Our local college offers a summer statistics class and I would like to be able to take that in the classroom. My financial aid sits with IVY Tech and I have some leftover for the summer.

Thanks, Brenda (Fall 2009-Hopeful)

P.S. How are the CSM challenge tests scored and do they count as grades?

P.S.S. What study materials do you use for NURS 208? Books, etc??? or other study materials?

:smackingf I am soooo confused as to the ISU/SONOMA STATE LPN TO BSN PROG., IF THERE GOING TO RECOGNIZE IT IN CALIFORNIA @ THE CBON? Do they recognize it in your state and then I was told by someone that I shoiuldn't go this route because they are just a publisher of the clep materials for the prereq's....LOL.... sEE WHY I NEED SOME HELP? I am sooooo frustrated, so any help would be greatly appreciated, so Thanks in advance:banghead:

It is The College Network that is the publisher of the study materials. They work in close association with the university. You do not need to have anything to do with TCN if you do not want to spend that extra money. You can get the courses done and enroll with ISU without TCN. The ISU LVN to BSN program is recognized by the state of CA. There is something about this on the BRN website. Don't worry about it being accepted. However, everything comes with a grain of salt. Don't procrastinate. No telling what the BRN will do three years from now and you don't want to get caught up in any changes. Good luck.

I was at work last night trying to finish the reading from this week @ 2 a.m. when I clicked on module 3...yikes! I did nearly have a coronary (no pun intended:)) I actually enjoyed chapter 8 but chapter 9 gives me a headache:confused: I have taken ACLS before but this is *a lot* of information to be tested on. I'll tell you after the test how much I :heartbeat cardio:wink2:

GEEZ, HOW DO YOU LIKE ADV, CARDIO LS now- or do I want to know ??? Anyway, I m an LPN in Cali and am just sooo confused as to the ISU/Sonoma State Univ. program for LPN to BSN ?

Any help would be great..... Thanks

Yes you need at least 6 credits for financial aid.......As far as the challenge exams you need 79% "C" which is 51 out of 65 questions right to get a passing grade....then they take those credits and count it towards graduation you do not get a letter grade on your transcript to count for a GPA.

Now the NURS 208...I have no idea we will find that one out together...hopefully *crossing my fingers to get accepted*

Just an FYI...with the goal of trying to make the ISU threads a bit easier to navigate we split them into an FAQ thread and a thread for current ISU students to discuss the program itself (once you are actually taking ISU classes). This is the current students thread, the FAQ one is seperate. :) Thanks and please don't throw rotten tomatoes at me for pointing this out. lol! ;)

Oh and don't forget there is the now closed but still open to read 900 page (give or take a few) original ISU thread. There is a ton of info there that will answer your Sonoma/CA questions. :)

Hi guys,

Just looking for a headcount as to who is going to be applying for Fall 2009...

And how about who is actually in the program..I know chaxanmom and chellelpn are graduating in Dec '09...anyone else?

Thanks, Brenda

Hi !

I am currently talking with the guy from TCN (college network), and have to say I am a little confused? He has said that the CBON will recognize ISU/SONOMA STATE, and that I will be able to sit for CALI BOARD WHEN DONE. hOWEVER, SOME PEOPLE HAVE SAID THAT IT IS NOTHING MORE THAN A PUBLISHER OF THE MODULES, WHICH YOU CAN GET FROM ANY BOOK PUBLISHER THUS SAVING ALOT OF $$$$. Someone also said that they CANNOT ISSUE YOU A DEGREE EITHER.... :uhoh3:My thinking is, why would my professor from my nursing school be emailing us about this program so long after we graduated w/c was in September and how do I ascertain what is actually fact from fiction? Any advice???? I have two prereq's left to apply and he said that i can just clep out of them and start right in to the program, so I am just so upset. On the one hand I am wanting to get started and be on my way to that BSN, and yet on the other hand am just not sure?

Oh, I just looked on m other pc, and caliotter sad not to worry about it and to NOT WAIT ON STARTING DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY MAY CHANGE EVERYTHING SOON ! Since she is said this I will say I feel a fire under my butt!!

Anyway, is tis what you were told by TCN as well? Let me know OK?
