Here's a new sticky for students involved in online/distance BSN programs through Indiana State University. Enjoy!
Adnerbe -- Congrats on the History Pass
Algebra is my next one also. I'm getting ready to take my first test, Patho, I've set a limit of no later than the end of the month. I'm kind of having a problem with knowing when to stop and just take the test, I can't know everything about a subject. I'm kind of a perfectionist, get close to a 100 on everything, have to know everything, but I'm working on getting over it.

I'm the same way but not even trying to get over it so don't feel too bad. lol!
Let me know how patho goes. I need to do that one but I think I'll do gerontology, patho, and technical writing over the summer. I'm doing ISU so I'll be doing nursing stuff spring semester.
I used to want to be a perfectionist but remember...
CLEP and DANTE Exams are a pass/fail score. So an "A" and a "C" are the same. Excelsior exams are grades tho and I believe they might affect your GPA so study extra for those exams.
Here is what I have left...
Algebra, Chemistry, Public Speaking and Tech Writing and then I can then apply to ISU. Statistics, World religion, Ethics, Phy Ed and Spanish I also have left.
My hope is to apply for Fall 2008. With 2 kids in college and a single mom, I should be eligible for some financial aid!

Hi,
I thought it would be helpful if all the ISU hopefuls posted where they are with classes so we can help each other...
I have completed in the last 2 years...in this order...
A&P, Micro, Pathophys, Eng Comp, Intro to Soc, Intro to Psych, LS Dev Psych, A&I Lit, Inf Sys/Comp App and American History 1.
I want to get all ny non-nursing courses done so all I have left will be nursing classes. Left are....
*Algebra, *Chemistry, *Tech Writing, *Public Speaking, Religion, Ethics, Statistics, Spanish and Phy Ed.
The four * classes need to be done before I apply so I will finish those, apply, finish the others and hopefully be ready by Fall 2008. If not, I am in no hurry and will wait until Spring!

I didn't realize CLEP and DANTE are pass/fail. Sweet! Thanks for that info!
Hey, I'm testing on the public speaking in the next week or two...need the study guide? It's really short, sweet and to the point. I did the study questions in it though.
I need to do World Religions eventually but I'm not buying a study guide for that. There's a ton of library books and websites on religion. Seems silly to spend $450 for a study guide for it.
So are you applying for fall semester '08? I'm applying for this coming spring so if so then I'll be one semester ahead and can let you know what's coming!
I agree. I use the REA Guides and Instacert as well. REA Guides are great for the tests alone as well as compiled info. Instacert is another resource that is cheap at $20 a month!
I also like to have a textbook if I can find one reasonably priced. And I have never bought a thing from College Network. EBay is my best friend.
Good Luck All,
Brenda
Hi all, I just passed NCLEX-PN and want to start working on my BSN. Do you think ISU is better that Excelsior? Is ISU accredited in all states? How many nursing courses do we have to take after the general education prereqs?
Thanks

You'd have to check with them regarding whether your BON takes their degree or not and about their nursing courses. I believe content is something the NCLEX people determine though but I'm not sure.
For me personally, I chose ISU because I haven't been working as an LPN for a long time and because of that I'd rather have a program that has clinicals rather than just the CPNE. Also, ISU has an LPN-BSN program (Excelsior does not...you have to get your ADN if you are an LPN), is accredited so you can get financial aid, and also it's an actual brick and mortar school with a traditional nursing program rather than a virtual university which I preferred as well. I think most people here are doing Excelsior though so they'd have to give you their reasons for choosing it and you can see which sounds like a better fit for you. :)
HTH!
Hi , I'm Kathryn.I've just finished up LVN school, studying for the Nclex and have started on the TCN modules for ISU BSN general study part. I'm in California so ISU is the only program available to me.
Brenda , what an accomplishment, how many more do you need to get to the nursing part. I have to do ALL the general ed, so quite a job ahead for me. I started with PATHO for my first test, just because it interests me so. I'd love to hear your experience with A & P that one and Chemistry look overwheming. How hard were they?
Hi, It's Jomarkk
I've taken NCLEX-PN this month. I'm in ISU online LVN/BSN program just like you and I lived in California =D. I haven't finish any courses of TCN modules. I'm finishing up Introduction to World Religions. So, you have taken Pathophysiology test...is it hard? I get anxiety, just like NCLEX-PN if I don't know how they put on the test.
Best wishes to you. I have to take all the general studies too. =D.

Congrads on passing your test!
Hey that's a great idea to find out what textbooks they use! I have the modules and it's basically all your LPN stuff so if someone still has fairly recent textbooks from LPN school that would work too I'd imagine. :)
