Here's a new sticky for students involved in online/distance BSN programs through Indiana State University. Enjoy!
Some of the gen ed courses are required before applying to the nursing program, some are not. You guys need to check the program guide on the ISU site. World Religions and Patho are both courses that can be taken *after* you apply to and start the nursing program. I just sent my portfolio in today and I haven't done either of those yet.
Thanks a bunch...I should check ISU right away!!

Question?
Hello,
I have finished my pre-reqs for an RN program with ISU I think I still need a chemistry course though (normal). My question is I have all my general Ed an AA all ready completed. Would I be able to still apply to ICU online program, as I am in Cali. without College Network?
Thank You

The four phase 2 modules from TCN are required but you may be able to find them on ebay.
As far as Cali is concerned, you have to find out if the ISU program is accepted there.

Thank you! I am not familiar with the four phase 2 modules, and ? about getting them on Ebay?
As far as Cali ISU program is accepted by the State Boards. Thank you so very much for your time.!!!

In the ISU program there are 4 modules you need to use to test out of 4 of the nursing courses. They're roughly $450 each from TCN so I guess a few people have looked on ebay for them. I never checked since I got them from TCN so I have no idea how easy or difficult it is to find them on ebay.
I've searched through all the threads related to ISU and I haven't been able to find the information that I'm looking for. Is there anyone who has actually done their clinicals at their local hospital for ISU? Does ANYONE know all of the states that do not accept ISU as a valid program? I know that Louisiana does not (I called the board) and New York does not (I read it on a thread here). Getting information on this program is like pulling teeth, as ISU's website and the information that they send to you are no help.
Better yet, is there anybody here who has actually made it through the program starting as an LPN and is now a RN, BSN? Thanks in advance for any help that you can give me.

I'm finishing up my pre-reqs for it and have my package submitted but I've had a lot of email and phone contact with them and they are really great about answering my questions. I've got the ball rolling for setting up my clinicals locally but it takes a few months. The guy who does that is Mike Mehl.
I would email Kim (the program director) and have her clarify the things you aren't sure of. [email protected] When they reply their emails have a signature with their phone number so calling is a good option too. Getting info over the phone is easy with them (unlike my other school...grr...don't even get me started there).
Hi,
I have also had good contact with ISU. I am close to applying. I think what is scary is that you have to put in alot of effort(getting all your prerequsites) without actually being in a program. I have done alot of research and am confident in what I am doing. I think you have to be a very independent and self-motivated person.
I am also not in a hurry. I love the fact that I control when I take a test and usually feel ready =)
Good Luck in whatever you decide.

I'm the same way about the pre-reqs. Well, basically just A&P and Micro because part of me says well if I decide to switch over to a traditional program than I have to retake those for one with a lab which is ughhh. But AFAIK all the other pre-reqs should transfer fine if you later switch.
I like doing this independently because I *am* in a hurry. lol! It's sort of a bummer going from the independence of modules to regular online classes that are traditional length. I'm used to my own pace now.:monkeydance: lol!
I had most of my generals from just being in and out of school over the years. Just depends on your lifestyle really. Modules are the quickest and easiest way to do it. How many pre-reqs do you have already? I only needed a few so I got them from TCN but several on here have gotten them cheaper on eBay so definitely get as many as you can there first. You can get used textbooks for taking the other exams too. I didn't want to deal with textbooks so for me the modules were worth the money but if you need a lot of them it can get really pricey. You can also do online college to fulfill the requirements which is more $ than modules but you can get financial aid so it could be cheaper that way. Not through ISU though. They won't let you due to the contract with TCN. I used UMUC for some of my online classes too.
Anyway, there's lots of different ways. Just depends on your lifestyle, money, etc. as to what the best fit is.
