In 10 years...

Nursing Students Male Students

Published

Hey guys, just started the nursing program at my school. I'll finish up in the Spring of 2010. I got to thinking the other day about where I want to be in 10 years. For me, I'll be 34 and hopefully working in trauma, ICU, ER, or flight nursing. I'd also like to earn my BSN. Anyway, I thought it would be a fun question to pose to the other guys on here. So, where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Specializes in CVICU, ER, Flight.

Very cool aspirations everyone!

Specializes in Med/Surg.

Hmm....good question. I'll be 33, with my BSN, and hopefully with about 7-8 years of nursing experience behind me. Not sure what specialty, possibly an ICU of some sort. Since I am already married, have two dogs and own a home, the only other thing I can see being changed is upgrading to a larger home. Oh, and maybe starting or midway through a NP program. Who knows though.....life has many twists and turns!

Specializes in Neonatal ICU (Cardiothoracic).

Hmmmm 10 years.......

NNP x 9 years, married, 4 kids, house, debt-free (except prob for mortgage) nice retirement portfolio cooking.... manager or senior member of a helicopter/fixed wing neonatal air transport program. No weekends or holidays.

Specializes in Telemetry & PCU.

After having some really long clinical days recently I am thinking that I will be teaching in 10 years. I will be 63 then and I have a feeling that my 'dogs' won't outlast my enthusiasm.

As far as the other stuff goes, my life is full of abundance and I don't see how it could get much better!

dude good question but i'm still trying to figure out now ! 10 years ? a BSN for sure as for the rest forget it .

In 10 years I'll be 40 and I'd like to have my BSN and a certified Respiratory Tech.

Specializes in Ortho, Neuro, Detox, Tele.

In 10 years, I'll be 37 and hopefully have my masters in nursing education.

In terms of working, I'd like to be making enough to still be socking away retirement funds...and affording a comfortable living.

Hopefully, married with 1-2 kids, and doing well enough to live my life.....of course, plans change from day to day, so it doesn't do a lot of good to plan it out so far...

In 10 years? That sounds like a dream. It's hard to imagine and picture that through the struggles of nursing school right now. But, God-willing, I hope that I'll have my MSN in Public Health Nursing or NP by then. I'd like to have a nice home and a job with medical service trips. If only...

I'm 34 also. I like to complete the CRNA program and be working as a nurse anesthetist, I grad in spring 2009:yeah:

Specializes in Family Practice, Primary Care.

In 10 years, I want to be done my MSN and either be a CRNA or PNP and be doing Doctors Without Borders and hopefully have most of, if not all my student loans paid off.

Specializes in SNU/SNF/MedSurg, SPCU Ortho/Neuro/Spine.

lets see... i will graduate next year, 23 years old,

by 32 i want to have finished anesthesia school, and be thinking wether or not to engage in med school!

I'll be in school, for something...took my first college course in 1995, and have been taking classes pretty much continuously since then.

My insane fantasy is to one day have a "pyramid" of degrees on my wall: three baccs as the base, two masters, and a doctorate at the top.

Got two baccs so far, and will have the first masters in 2-3 years.

Oh, and my student loan debt will exceed the GDP of a small nation.

;)
