hi if you were called in for an interview or accepted into the philips beth israel school of nursing in new york city please reply and if you do not mind post your ad percentile and your overall composite score from the nln exam. i am trying to get an idea of what range of scores is being called. i am still waiting and ready to jump. :selfbonk: i greatly appreciate it. today is 4/23/06
I received my schedule yesterday. I ended up picking it up from the school as they happen to be sitting on the desk waiting to go to the post office when I was there. I am doing the ATOP schedule and I finish around 3 on Fridays so I was happy about that. The only thing I see being a probelm is it looks like the Spanish elective is scheduled at the same time the ATOP NUR 101 classes are scheduled on a Friday. I emailed the school questioning this. It is more important for me to be in the ATOP than take Spanish so I will see what the response is.

Helen, I believe we have the same schedule except that I have a class at Pace on Mondays as well. You are correct if you are a ATOP student Spanish 107 conflicts, I already verified this, Mrs. Stern said they would work on it being available for ATOP students in the upcoming semesters, I think it is up to the teaching Pace professor. I cannot believe how many books I have had to purchase. I still have not received my uniforms and I went to the fitting. I was also told that student loans are still being worked on. I am amazed at how everything is done last minute. I already tried to register with Pace for two out of three classes and only one of them is open right now. Mind you that they give all this info. and registration forms at orientation. Dealing with this school only the early bird gets the worm. I contacted my Pace professor and requested the syllabus and he sent it to me the next day. When classes start I do not want to worry about anything else, books are all purchased, uniform, financial aid done, planning on next semesters bill, etc. See you soon.:balloons::balloons::balloons:

Did you actually get your tuition bill yet? I have not, so I am not sure if the loan from there is enough or I need to get a private loan also. I hope it is all figured out by orientation.

Good morning, I am off to the clinic once again for yet another PPD test for medical clearance, my arms look terrible with all these needles going in and out the past two weeks. Anyhow there is a vent. I have not received a bill, I was told that the scholarships were figured out and now they are working on the nursing loans. Once that is completed they will send out the bill. I believe that I read somewhere that as long as you pay 25% of the balance that you can pay the rest in installments which you arrange with financial aid. I am not 100% sure on this but it is the plan I am counting on if they do not apply a nursing loan, I do not see why they would not, this is not a grant this is payable back with interest. Financial aid keeps telling me not to worry, so I won't. Also if you decide to take a class at Pace and if you do you better be quick and only Nursing 221 is open. You can pay for that in 5 to 10 payments, except the first payment can be as high as $700 because the consider the first payment due June 15,2006 so you are actually making back payments on your 1st installment. On top of that there is a $70 to $90 fee depending on the payment plan you choose. As far as the nursing student loan is concerned it should be for $1,500 for this semester and $1,500 for next semester. What I did is figure out my own bill by using the schools website including all fees + all credits x $300 - scholarship - nursing student loan - deposit monies = amount due. I know crazy right? :trout:

How many PPD's did you have to have? I was already immunized (luckily) and had one PPD for EMT things earlier this year, so in the end I only had to have one PPD and respirator test and I was all done in two visits. I am not taking anything else other than Fundamentals and Ethics. After I saw the book list I am glad I am not taking anymore. I want to get a good grasp on Fundamentals and will take some extra classes in other semesters. I ordered my books online so I am waiting for them to arrive. I am having my books de-spined so I can take smaller portions of them to class instead of breaking my back carrying them all.
i figured out my own bill as well from the website. i hope that i was close to correct! i got locked out of a pace class as well. and i still have two rash looking things on my forearms from the ppds and i got clearance on 7/20! i am glad we finally got the schedule. i really needed to tell work when i could be there. i have class only mon, tue, and wed, so i will be missing you guys entirely.

I hope somewhere along the line we will meet.
I had also figured out my tuition from the website but I don't know what grants/scholarships that I have been awarded, if any, (other than what I got with my acceptance letter). When I called to find out, I could not seem to get the information so I have given up calling and I will wait for the mailman to bring me the news.
If you guys want to take at least one extra class at Pace, I would get the registration form right away and the only class that is open as of now is Nursing 221 it meets on mondays from 5:00pm to 8:30pm and there are mondays where it does not meet at all. You are given on-line assignments. Mrs. Stern has the registration form and the info. where it should be mailed, being that classes fill so quickly at this point I would hand deliver it to the appropriate person. I think the 1st semester is going to be the easiest of the all so why not knock off an elective that you will need anyway before things get really tough. Last trip to medical on Friday and I should have clearance and ID as well. The books are arriving one by one by mail, much cheaper than any NYU bookstore, also check out ebay.
i must admit i am proud of this thread, i started it and it has grown to be rather large; anyway back to business:
i figure with what ever aid i get including loans that i may still owe $700, i gave more than a $200 deposit. i can put down 25% of that money which = $175 and pay the rest off in installments. that is the good news, this info. can be found on pbison's website under admissions then under tuition and fees, then towards the bottom of the page under general information. i hope this helps alleviate some anxiety of financial encounters with our soon to arrive school bill. here is something scary: i have finally finished purchasing the long list of required and recomended text books for both schools; total $440 notebooks not included. oouch!!! :barf01::smackingf:smackingf:smackingf:lol_hitti
About your uniforms and clinicals you may not get your complete uniform until after clinicals start. I know several students and myself didn't get our pants and tunics until about the third clinical meeting. It wasn't the fault of the school, but the uniform provider. Fortunately we had lab coats to wear and the instructors where very understanding and accommodating. Just remember not to wear anything but white socks and absolutely no clogs!
They do tend to do things a little last minute for some people, but the school is actually really caring and accomodating for students. Everything usually felt pretty organized. Once the school thing gets rolling, you are going to be so busy trying to keep your notes and reading organized that you wont even have time to pay attention to these other things.

Do they still offer the orthodox uniforms with the long sleeves? I know that some students ordered orthodox uniforms that were actually dresses with long sleeves. Very traditional. Some girls actually opted for the mens tunics instead of the fitted shirts, as they were much roomier and had bigger pockets and didn't have that governess--mumuesque front panel.
