Nurses General Nursing

Published

The other night my husband was setting his alarm and the radio had a talk show with some Dr. answering sex type questions. (Dr. Drew? I think it's syndicated) Anyway, some lady calls, high as a kite, babbling about her addiction to sex. Dr. Drew is saying her problem is obviously drug addiction and asking her some questions, but she's all over the place, can't follow the conversation and trying to get Dr. Drew to have phone sex with her. The one question she does answer....Is she able to hold down a job? "I'm a nurse."

How are we ever going to improve our image with freaks like that!

Dont forget there are people in all professions that are not good. Pedophiles in the clergy so does that make their profession look bad? No for some reason people still look on them for guidance. Unfortunately a sterotype of the profession is driven by the media more than real life.

Nurses are people too.................

more than that..............sldsheppard.....said it well..............

I am who I am and that is ultimately the only person I am responsible for.........

slpsheppard you hit the nail right on the head. When I received the BRN report it is sad that many nurses fallen to drugs and what ever else. We are human.

Specializes in Community Health Nurse.

A person can be as intelligent as Einstein, but that only measures academic intelligence. Emotional intelligence is key to man's survival in this world. If we are not emotionally and socially mature, no amount of intellectual knowledge will save us.

Every profession we know has more than its fair share of emotionally immature degenerates. As a health profession, we still have a long way to go before we uncover the mysteries of one's mind, how it works, what makes it react to things that it reacts to, and the heart (emotions) matters that are even more complicated than we can possibly know...if we ever will! ;)

I know I'm human....just because I'm a nurse does not mean I'm better or less then anyone.....and I have the same feelings and desires as everyone else. I just don't get the days or the pay to enjoy those feelings!!!! LOL :)

She probably wasn't a nurse. Just said she was one. It wouldn't be the first time THAT has happened!

IF you listen to information you have to have a "metric ton" of salt (NaCl) with you at all times to take with the information. There may well be nurses that smoke, take drugs, have sex toys, treat people like pets, never sleep, possess firearms, etc..

Remember a movie called "Looking for Mr. Goodbar" where Diane Keaton played this teacher who would live a double life?

Then again, what relevance does any of this have to me, and my caring ability :-)

How many times have nurse aids portrayed themselves as nurses? I take this NURSE with a METRIC TON and a half of salt. I hope everyone else does, too.

Um...excuse me, but....

since when does having sex toys qualify one in the same category as an addict or alcoholic???

:kiss

No Babs - I didn't mean to say that sex toys are an obsession or anything like that. Sex toys are very much a part of any normal adult's sex life. Don't take me for such a stoic. :-)

If you ask me nicely, I'll tell you some of the stuff thats inside my "fetish box." On second thought, no, thats totally personal

:-)
