I finished my 3rd semester and my full sequence of ap 1 and 2 but I got high c's in both of them. I'm an honors student and I guess I'm not so good at a and p. I have decent grAdes in all my other science pre reqs. I'll have at least a 3.2 to 3.3 gpa when I apply to nursing school. I'm really worried that I won't get into a program because of those two c's how should I spice my application up so admissions will let me slide by with my grades? I was thinking of going out of state(i live on the west coast) which states are easier to get into or less impacted?

You don't just need a good grade on A&P to help your GPA; this is one of those essential subjects. You may be able to slide by with a 3.3 GPA if things like Calculus or British Literature are the Cs dragging you down. You need to pretty good mastery of A&P actually matters to nursing.

You probably need to retake the classes. I don't know of a program you could get into with C in A&P.
I understand the subject pretty well but my professor(the same for both) is a really tough grader. I literally had 79%s in both classes.

The issue here is not really getting into nursing school but mastering the content of anatomy and physiology.
A&P will not disappear after you are accepted and a clear understanding of A&P will be expected.
Although you may believe to have a good grasp, your grade doesn't reflect. To your misfortune that grade is the only objective way for the school of nursing to judge your readiness for the application of A&P to the nursing material.
You will have tough professors in nursing school as well ... what I'm trying to say is that getting by doesn't cut it ... what I'm trying to say is that IF in the event you are not accepted - it is obvious why
Edit: I HAD to comment on the "slide by" ... If you're starting to want to slide by NOW ... as my profs say... "chances are you'll want to slide by in your actual practice".
Good luck.

I have to agree with above posters. I would retake the subjects. A&P is one of those classes that are most definitely looked at going into nursing school. My school goes off a points system. A&P are most heavily weighted with 30 points a piece. There is also a bunch of it on the TEAS test. You also need a firm grasp on it for micro.

She had a passing grade, apply to nursing school, if you're not accepted retake a&p and get a higher grade.
The problem with you having a 79% is you will be competing against people who pulled off the 90+. If competition at your school isn't that tough, then go for it but if it's like I've heard from everyone else (I'll admit, it's been a few years since I went to nursing school), you're going to need every bell and whistle to get in right away. Or maybe you swing one of those no waiting list private schools for $35,000/year.
But ask yourself this and I'm not being ugly; Did the students whose average was 11% higher than yours just figure out the system or do they know A&P that much better than you. If you honestly think they've just figured out how to score higher but your knowledge and theirs is equivalent then push on and don't worry about it. I seriously doubt it though. Nursing school is tough for those who never broke a sweat for A&P. I loved it, loved it, loved it and like most of my nursing school classmates scored in the high 90s but nursing school was flat out hard work just to get passing grades. If you're a little cloudy on A&P you will be left in the dust during nursing school.
Once more, if you truly believe your knowledge is on par with the A students; press on and best of luck.

I agree, retake. You need this ability, you will use it every day. This is not just a hoop to jump through, but a key area of knowledge.

Retaking them is probably the best idea. You can still always apply, take other pre-reqs, and wait to see if you get in. But A&P is one of the main things nursing schools look at, especially in weighted scales.
Getting high C's in a core class for pre-nursing doesn't look good compared to people that get the A's in a competitive stand point. Everyone gets professors that grade hard, but I bet in your class there were people that got A's, curve or no curve.
I'm pretty much spitting out what all my advisors told me.
Good luck!
