I have been an nurse lpn for two months now and I have trained 4 nurses including new grads. I'm so tired of being put behind in my work to train others. For goodness sake I'm still learning myself. I complained to my boss a thousand times but I keep being told I have to even though I don't feel comfortable. I do the best I can but it's still hard. Today the trainee complained about me and my atitude, I didn't mean to have one I was just so overwhelm and behind. Thanks for letting me vent. Btw I started precepting others after 3 weeks of being licenses. The horror !!!!

As long as you stay where you're at, no, you won't get a break. What you will get is into a dangerous situation where your license is on the line and an employer that won't give a sh, . . .um, er . . . .hoot. You've only been a nurse for two months?!?!?!?!? Get. Out. Quickly!!!! Not only is the situation bad, it's dangerous for you and more importantly for your patients. To quote Bruce Dickinson" . . . . .Run to the hills! . . . . . ."

wow, they have you training already?? your own training must have been extremely short! the internships here last a min of 18weeks some as long as 24, after which you are required to train ONE intern in the group after yours (it's a see, do, teach learning thing) but they only have 3 internships a year and they're not back to back so really you wait a few months after you finish training before you have someone to train. after you train the first intern you are no longer required to train but you get paid extra & stuff so many people do.
i would run, your license could be in danger!
just my $0.02
I know I should run and I'm looking! I love my job but I don't know how much more I can take. I'm going to pray about this. I really need the money but my license is on the line !

Train people well enough so they can take the role of preceptor.

How long was your orientation? Who oriented you? Obviously you cannot be the most senior nurse there.....

No way, just two months? You've got to be kidding. I'm sorry, no reflection on you but that's just scary. Scary for you and scary for the patients. What bird brain decided that was ok? You say you're sick of it. Did you start precepting new nurses after what... a week? That's so wrong.

I sure hope I dont not have a preceptor that only have 2 months experience. What the heck are they thinking about? Why did you get into it? you have a say in all of this you know.

WOW!!!
This is very scary. I believe that you should look for another job. Easier said, than done, in this tight economy. Talk to your NM, supervisor, management and explain that you do not feel ready to train others, yet. Perhaps, your NM sees potential in your work. However, I feel that you should not risk your license, more importantly your patient's lives, in training others when you yourself is entering this challenging profession.
Be wise, calm, and firm. Also, this NM should understand your frustrations. This puts stress not only you, but creates tension between preceptor and the orientee. Your organization runs the risk of losing their employees.
Good Luck!!!
you all are so right. I just have to start looking for a new job, I atleast wanted to stay there until I get my rn degree or one year experince. I hate to leave so soon.

Chances are, other employers in the area will already know about how employees are treated at your facility; if you tell them you were expected to train so quickly, no one's going to say anything about you leaving so quickly.
Run for the door. If they've got you training, there's a reason the retention at the place is terrible.

Yeah it must be hard to leave so soon but you've got to be realistic and make choices that are healthy for you and your career. God forbid that something goes wrong somewhere and you end up with a revoked license and a smear on your name, talk about extended unemployment. Your organization doesn't seem like the supportive type. Good luck and be very careful.
