Hi everyone Im new here at allnurses.com and I am a new LPN. I want every nurse to be proud whether they are RN or LPN. I have noticed over the past few months when I tell people that I am a LPN they always say "Arent they phasing LPN's out". I think a lot of people are unimformed and dont realize that LPN's are nurses too. I love all nurses , but I want people to know all over the world that I am proud to be a LPN ! I have started a Facebook page!
I am proud to be a new LPN. I passed my boards in Feb. I started my 1st job as a Nurse in Mar. When Will I Truely feel I deserve to be A Nurse. I am so scared I might do something wrong
Congrats, Christie!! Fears are normal, it means you care enough to do it right. No nurse has everything down pat. To be honest, feeling like you deserve to be a nurse is a process more than it is a destination. Do your best, be proud, and always keep learning.
BTW, guys- "LPNs are being phased out" started around 35 years ago, maybe even longer than that, lol. If it's true, "they" need to step up the pace a bit.
You are funny Nursel56:). I think they kinda need us!! Since we have been phasing out for over 35 years, and still seeing LPN Jobs Opening, and LPN programs all over the world. We still get paid good, well good enough. Yes, I am proud to be an LPN:bow: An RN once told me that we do just as much as an RN we just get paid a little less. It felt good to here that one!!
Congrats, Christie!!
kiciamarie don't let no one discourage you. if it is something you enjoy doing, than do it. i went into lpn first because i wanted to make sure it was right for me before i just leaped into rn. yes others said don't waste your time going to lpn school just go on into rn. i had to do what was right for me and that was being an lpn and i am proud of it :). good luck with your decision

I'm sorry if I offended you with regards to education....What I meant was that LVN/LPNs always have to hear "Well the RN is more educated than the LVN", well that's not necessarily true. Yes in theory when it comes to nursing, but when it comes to overall education and clinical experience there are tons of LVN/LPNs out there who have been in the medical field for many years. Some of them that I know can out perform some of the newer RNs. It just comes with experience and nothing more.
Another point is that LVNs can be educated too in another field. I'm more educated than some of my fellow RNs who hold a ADN, but that doesn't make me less of a nurse or more of a nurse because of the difference in education.
