HI!!! im a foreign nurse. And i just recieved my immigrant visa last week. Im set to leave for the states, particularly in FL to work in Spring hill Regional Hospital in a weeks time, and i do not know ANYTHING about that place, or even places near it, the people there, and what its like to live there. I hope my adjustment in FL will be smooth and slow paced. Im so anxious. Im single and i have nobody with me once i get there! I've searched the internet about that place and it seems that its not the type of "america" which i am looking forward to work and live in. I would appreciate it very very much if somebody can tell me something. .. thanks!!!

where are you from? Just curious

From the Philippines. Its 4am right now and i cant sleep coz im too anxious....hehe

Spring Hill is a small, nice quiet community. Very middle class. Lots of elderly people. It's a growing community due to the fact that housing is cheaper there than in some of the surrounding areas. You are nearby Tampa and Saint Petersburg. A couple of my co-workers live there and drive 45 minutes to work every day and they love it there.

I think you will be at a disadvantage if you don't have a car. But nurses can get cars relatively easy. I knew a Fillipino nurse that got approved for a $20,000 truck after working here a few months.

I'm sorry but I can't tell you abou the hospital there.

Most of the hospitals here have a lot of Fillipino nurses and hopefully the one you're going to will too so you can connect with some fellow Fillipinos. My guess is that if they are recuiting you, then there will be other Fillipinos there.

Relax. You're going to like Florida and America. It's understandable that you would be nervous and I would too.

Thank you so much for the needed information! I understand why you cant give me any info regarding the hospital, so its ok. upon arrival, i guess i'll be staying in Clearwater area first before i move up and find myself a nice appartment near the hospital, coz i am provided a free place for a months stay by my recruiting agency. How many minutes does it usually take from Clearwater to Spring hill? I really hope i'll learn quick. Im only 21 years old .and im really not ready for this sudden change yet but i dont have much of a choice ... What makes you happy here doesnt pay at all.

Tweety ......tell me more. I'll be starting work in Florida in a couple of months and I'm gonna have an approximate 45 minute drive to work every day.....was expecting to have to go out and buy a car, pay the going rate from a dealership, but is there some other (less expensive) option? :nurse:

Hi, I'm not familiar with the facility but I found this online: http://www.hernandohealthcare.com/findfacility.htm

There's info about the hospital on the site. Good luck!

P.S. I sent you PM

I live in Spring Hill and work in Pasco county. I love the area. It is calmer than the tourist areas but I am close enough to go where I want. I can't tell you about the hospital. I haven't been to it. But if you are going to be in Clearwater you can count on at least a 40 mile drive one-way. Yes housing is cheaper here than Tampa / Clearwater but not as cheap as you think. The housing boom hit here last summer also. We bought our home June 2005 and houses here were selling faster than I could get to them to see.

I wanna ask about the $650/mo. Is it furnished? How much do they usually ask for downpayment?
