I'm #23 on the lottery that only takes 22!!!

So I applied to my local CC's RN program for this Fall and it is a lottery. For some reason this quarter they are only taking 22 students (used to be 24) and I am #23 on the list!! The dept said if someone refuses their admission, the next on the list will be chosen (ME!!!). How many of you had this same experience and ended up getting in???

Everyone keeps telling me that most likely SOMEONE will give up their spot (maybe were accepted elsewhere more favorable, or whatever...I gave up my spot last year at a different school b/c I was preggers), but it may take until the first day of class to know! How should I prepare myself for this mentally and physically??? What if I actually don't get in. :/

We lost 3 before the first day.

You have a great chance!!!! PrAY!!!

Good Luck.

We got a ton of people that were later in the waitlist than you...you have a really good chance...dont give up hope and best of luck :)

More than likely you're in! I always hear about how a few people never show up or drop the program! You stand a very good chance of getting in there. ;) Good luck! Let us know how it goes!

i would call admissions every single day haha..

but more than likely you will be getting in, As hard as it is to get into a nursing program at the very beginning they all drop like flies and a bunch of spots open up

GOOD LUCK :) let us know if u make it!

Oh, how nerve-wracking!! I agree though. I think you have a great chance of getting in.

We just lost two due to personal reasons and it's a week before classes start. I would say you have a great chance. Act like you are in and be ready for the call when it comes.

Good luck!

When my cohort started two years ago, they let the first two people on the "alternate" list come to the orientation because chances are, they will both get in. Sure enough, before the first day of actual class, they were both sitting right there along with the rest of us. So needless to say, you have a pretty good chance. :)

You're going to love this story.

I was unceremoniously rejected from my top choice school. I mentally negotiated ways I could possibly, maybe, hopefully get in under the radar. I even called to find out if somehow my rejection letter was an alternate list notification in disguise. Alas, nope. Not to be. At least that is what I thought.

One night after a particularly long day that I did not enjoy, I got a letter in the mail from the health occupations office at the school. I was a bit bitter and thought it was an announcement about their upcoming programs or some other kind of advertisement for something I wasn't interested in. Wrong! It was a letter informing me they would be administering the TEAS to a group of students for possible placement on the alternate list. Wait. What? I thought they already had one of those!!! I called to find out what was what and I was told they did have an alternate list, but six weeks before the semester was to begin, they had gone through that list replacing people that had dropped for one reason or another. (Note: this is a program that takes applications once per year for admission to the upcoming Fall and Spring semesters) So, they needed a whole new alternate list. Wow. Sign. Me. UP!

I sent my TEAS scores over and waited on pins and needles for my name to please be pulled out of the hat. Three weeks ago my phone rings and on the other end of the line is the Health Occupations secretary asking me if I am available for a seat in the Fall class. I start Monday. :smokin:

You are as good as in mrsB

Sweetie just believe! I know we r all tempted to let doubt take over but if I were u I would be prepared to start classes soon. Pray and believe. Be sure to post the good news when u are asked to join the program.

Good testimony sugarnsass! Hearing your success story will give her hope!

Oh, this makes me laugh because I was an alternate too...I felt guilty praying that someone would lose their spot (after all, I didn't want anyone to get sick or have something bad happen!), so I started praying, "Dear God, maybe someone on the waiting list could...umm...hit the lottery and decide they don't need to go to nursing school after all?" That would be good right? :lol2:

Hang in there!
