So I found out yesterday at 5pm that my nursing license is due to expire today at midnight! I found out when my boss called to let me know that I may not be able to work the weekend as scheduled. I called the BON freaking out and they informed me that since today is a Fri, and it normally takes a business day to process, even if I drive down to the BON, my paperwork won't go through until Mon. Meaning I can't work the weekend. Gah, I know I should have known it was due to be renewed but it was my first time renewing in this state and all my other state licenses had the same date for everyone to renew...and apparently my new state is based on birth month which I didn't realize.:uhoh3:

I just had the same thing happen. I have multiple licenses all up to date, but the one I really need right now. I had to haul hiny and renew immediately.

Mine was nit the birthdate thing, I got the original in January so I assumed it was good for 2 years. It's not. Whoops! Live and learn :)

I'm another person who had to make the almost 2 hour drive each way to my state capitol in order to get my license renewed so as not to miss any shifts at work. Lesson learned, and for my next license renewal, I will be renewing it at the beginning of the 90 day window in which we're allowed to renew, not at the end. :smackingf

Actually no CEU's needed for this particular state. I just need to get my CEU's in order before my other nursing license expires.

Are you sure that you can't renew online? We've had online renewal for a couple of years....

(Not that I'm trying to take away your week-end off!)

I can renew on-line, and ended up doing that today. The problem is the website for my BON takes 1 business day to update the on-line record. So it will not update that I renewed my license until Monday. Therefore I am not allowed to work all weekend.

I just got an e-mail from the BON because I checked that I have practiced under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol when I did my online renewal...LOL...have to snail mail them back to tell them I didn't.

Will they let you work as a CNA or a unit secretary? The hospital I used to work at had one or two nurses every year doing that or chart reviews or policy reviews or something so they didn't lose a day of work (and things like policy reviews got done!).

Man.....you gotta slow down and pay attention. Chill out! You are digging a hole. Only your facility cab answer if they will let you be a secretary....RELAX!!!!

Sorry, just read the other posts that you DID renew online but there is a lag time.

I almost did that once but was lucky that my manager called on thurdsay to verify if it had been done. I was lucky as I lived in a state that I was able to pay a company to run over to the nursing lic office and hand file my papers. Cost me a lot but had to work that weekend and if I didn't work that meant some else was going to get their weekend ruined and have to work for me.
