Northwestern College Bridgeview IL

U.S.A. Illinois

Anyone out there who is a current student at Northwestern College of Nursing in Bridgeview, IL???? Or anyone who has applied? Just want to know any feedback about the program? Thanks.

I applied to St Xavier too. I didn't get in. Also applied to Harper CC haven't heard from them yet. How far is IU-Northwest from the city? I went a info session at Ambria as well. I just don't like that you are required to work as an LPN for 6 months before you can the second year to get your RN. I work in an ER as a tech now and would hate to leave to work in a nursing home as an LPN. I live in Hinsdale right by oakbrook. Yes the ITT in Indiana has a class graduating soon. The one in Orland Parks first class started in March this year so they won't graduate till 2013. My problem is I messed around a lot my first 2 years in school and screwed up my GPA. I have a 2.78 right now which is holding me back from getting in even though I have a lot of experience from work at the hospital for over 3 years and I have great entrance exam scores. But most schools the GPA is the deciding factor which sucks.

I'm 95% positive that I won't get in to St. Xavier but I applied anyway..lol IU-Northwest is like maybe 40 minutes from me. I live right near the Kennedy so it's very convenient. I didn't know that about having to work as a LPN for 6 months before doing the 2nd year..but I honestly didn't really think about having to get my RN there.. Wright has a bridge program.. so does St. Xavier, Chicago State, and several other places.

Oh you live in the burbs.. I thought you were in Chicago. Girl, my mother made me major in finance at loyola back in the day.. I HATE FINANCE..so I totally didn't study cuz I hated what I had to take.. you have a way better GPA than I do..lol Well, from Loyola you do...lol Did you try Chamberlain? Their GPA requirement is 2.75.. you might be able to get in there. I called Northwestern and I'm waiting for them to call me back. So I'll let you know. Not sure what to do.. I really like Ambria especially the hours...but I wish that one Dept of Rural Health scholarship qualified for Ambria...but it doesn't.. there is one for IL but I don't want to live in IL when I'm done with school.

Yes I've looke into chamberlain too. Haha. Their application is due July 15th so I haven't applied yet. I'm waiting to here from the schools that I already applied to first. Chamberlains application fee is 95$ which is insane just to submit an app!

The Ambria in Hoffman estates which was the location in Hanover Park is an LPN program that has an LPN to RN program. They call it a 1+1. So you go for a year take the LPN boards and then tour required to work as one for 6 months before starting the second year for your RN. They do have good class schedules as such though like you said!

You know what you can do about the Chamberlain application fee... you can contact an Admissions counselor and she will take a look at your transcripts and such and let you know the chances of you getting in or not before paying the fee. That's what I did.

If I do wind up going to Ambria.. I won't do the RN there...I'm not gonna work for 6 months before applying..that's insane!

What were the hours and such at Northwestern? Have you checked into Everest? Not sure if we have one here or not?

thats a good idea!!

i cant remember what the hours were at northwestern. they spoke about a little at the info session. i think they were mostly in the morning. not everyday a week.

everest doesnt have an RN program in IL. I checked into that as well! haha

LMAO! That's so funny how we've looked into the same things.. us low GPA's gotta stick together..:lol2: j/k

You can go to Chamberlain's website and get the email addy for the admissions person and just send her an email... and go from there! Let me know if you have any luck!

if you did go to Northwestern, can you please let me know what they require minimum score for the TEAS entrance exam? I would like to appy here if the cost is not too much. How much did it cost you?

Their minimum score is somewhere between a 70-75.. I technically don't go there yet...but if you are going to go to their ADN program w/o transferring any classes in at all....it would cost probably close to 50k.

HTH

Hello Girls I would like to know if any of you actually attended the Northwestern college in bridgeview and how was your experience???

I am considering northwestern college for nursing as a second degree. I currently work in the health field now making less then nothing as a CNA. I got my BA in 2005 so i'm not sure if my courses like math and bio will have to be taken over:(. Anyone have a clue of Northwestern curriculum? 50K is a lot for a 2 yr degree:locktopic:. i'm not in my twenties or thirties for that matter so this is a MAJOR life change for me.
