Iguanamed Scrubs - Customer Service

Be sure to read to the end...

Recently I visited The Uniform Outlet in my area and purchased two pair of Iguanamed scrubs -- Carbon Black and Treeline Green -- The sales person tells me these are "Unisex scrubs" and "all the guys are buying them". The material is like no other fabric I have worn. I had trouble finding a good fit...I normally wear a Large but could hardly get out of the top. I moved up to a 2XL. My wife made a comment about how the pants "accentuated my butt"...Hmm. After trying on several pair I made my purchase.

It is important to note that I am male...

So I head off to work and the first RN I run into says "Great scrubs! Did you know you are wearing women's scrubs?" She giggles and runs away. Well this happens several more times throughout the day and then someone hands me a print out from the Iguanamed website. YEP! Female RN scubs -- "Accentuated Design - Contour is on the MARK for most female body types". :angryfire

OK...now I am embarrassed and a feel like I've been lied to. I drive 28 miles to The Uniform Outlet. Again I am told "these are Unisex" and the girl gives me a look like "whats wrong with you?". I show her the Iguanamed info and ask for a refund. I am told that a manager will have to determine if I am entitled to receive a refund and of course the manager is not in. Five days later and four phone calls...Ms. Snotty Store Manager tells me that "all the guys are buying these" and indicates that she needs to speak to the regional manager in order to authorize a refund! ??? PS I can't find one guy in my hospital that wears Female RN scrubs.

To recap...I am a male...I am sold female scrubs, humiliated at work, then told I am mistaken by the same person who sold me the scubs, denied a refund...and now I am being ignored. Thank you Uniform Outlet.

Today I contacted Iguanamed -- ready to lob off some Iguana tail -- Ms. Christy listens to my tale of woe and apologizes. She then explains that YES I did purchase the Female RN scrub and the salesperson was obviously incorrect. I am then transferred to Brian, a product expert that spends 20 minutes going over the Iguanamed product line with me. I am then transferred back to Christy who indicates that she will exchange my Female RN scrubs for new scrubs appropriate for males. She indicates that my new scrubs will arrive at my door within two days. Along with my new scrubs I am told to expect a return label and Christy asks that I please return the exchange items. The cost -- ZERO DOLLARS -- Awesome customer service, assistance with selection of appropriate product and FREE SHIPPING... AND more important is I ASKED FOR NOTHING -- Iguanamed offered the solutions to me.:yeah:

I was furious when I called and certain I was a bit "snippy"...Christy and Brian put the fire out and made me very happy. I have been wearing Aviator Scrubs but after this experience I will be going Iguana!

What a mouth full! But I think "All Nurses" should know... Iguanamed offers an excellent product -- scrubs for both men and women -- Unique, durable fabric and SUPER COMFORTABLE...you could wear them as PJs. I recommend checking out their website --> http://www.iguanamed.com/

But even MORE IMPORTANT here...Iguanamed not only offers a great product, the staff is commited to excellence...great customer service! A sure sign this company will be around for a long while and they are concerned about MEN IN NURSING!

GO IGUANA!

Yeah.... I had to be REALLY careful to make sure I ordered the unisex scrubs off the internet. I really wish they'd get rid of the embroidered iguana off the pants "hip". Someone at work asked me why I was wearing "Baby Phat" scrubs. They are really comfortable, if not a little low-riding, as well as having a SHORT inseam. I need to be careful when I sit down, so my coworkers don't get a "crack flash."

LMAO! You're not the only one bro.

First time I actually laughed out loud on this website in a long time...thank you bud!!!

So were the sizes more true to form as the unisex model? I usually where a large in Aviator's, would I be a large in these as well?

No cargo pockets?...hmmm

I'm a girl . . but that is a great story.

I hope you got a letter stating YOU were right and UNIFORM OUTLET was wrong and sent it to them.

You should print out your post and send that and a copy of the paperwork you receive from iguana to the main offices of both iguana med and the uniform outlet. That way iguana can see how good their people are and the uniform outlet can see that they need to educate their sales clerks on their products and customer service!

Great story! I just discovered the Iguanamed line at my local uniform store, also. Luckily, the store owner is also the usual sales person, and she was able to acquaint me with the nuances of the gender specifics of the Iguanamed line. I just wanted to chime in and answer the question about the sizing. I'm typically a medium bottom and large top in most other scrub lines. With Iguanamed, I went up to an XL in both. I'm glad to hear other people experienced the same issues with the sizing. I was thinking that it was the weight that I put on after quitting smoking a month ago.

Hey, I have a quick question...for those that have bought the Iguana scrubs...is the material by chance similiar to the Grey's Anatomy?

I love GA's scrubs b/c of the fabric, but I would like to have a larger selection of styles.

The fabric is similar to the Grey's Anatomy in that it's stretchy and a poly-cotton blend. The Iguanamed scrubs are thicker. The fabric is heavier. Hope this helps.

I found the IguanaMed scrubs to be a tough fit. The top was a little shorter than I'm comfortable with (I'm only 5'4") and the inseam was crazy long. At least 6" too long!

I'm thinking they're meant to fit super slim, super tall juniors.

I bought a couple of these uniforms today (online). I found them online at Jasco where I usually buy my scrubs. I searched on the internet for their website and read thru the sizing information and the description of the products they have. It’s says clearly that they have the RN (female) and MD (male) tops. They have unisex pants and it also tells you that the sizes are labeled for woman and that for men you go up so many sizes……

I hope that when I get these scrubs in the mail they fit, but regardless of what the tag size end up being, it’s about comfort, durability and the way they look. I don’t want to look like I have a bag over my head. I went to a local store and tried on about 15 pants from smalls to large. Some mediums would be to small and some I could drown in. It's always like this, we know this.

Bottom line, read before you buy the stuff.

That was the best laugh I've had in awhile :yeah:. I can so relate to the OP. When I first wore IguanaMed, I got so many compliments from my co-workers. "Oh, I like your scrubs! What kind are they?" After reading the first few sentences of the OP, I was thinking "OMG I've been wearing women scrubs all along!?...that's why my co-workers like them so much!"

I'm also a male nurse and own IguanaMed scrubs. The first time I bought IguanaMed, I purchased mediums and soon realized they were TOO SNUG. The second time I purchased IguanaMed scrubs, I went for large and they fit perfectly. The material is great but the color does fade after awhile. I'm a fan of their scrub tops, but not crazy about the scrub bottoms. They definitely are made to "accentuate" females because of the low rise. I don't know about other guys, but the fit is not for me. I'll stick with Cherokee utility scrub pants and IguanaMed tops (until IguanaMed starts making guy-friendly bottoms).
