If you can't pass the NCLEX after three attempts....LVN license only!

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I just read in another thread that some Boards of nursing are allowing multiple attempts at taking the NCLEX exam. Is this true? If so, this is ridiculous! If we are trying to elevate the profession by requiring a minimum BSN to practice, then why are we allowing multiple attempts at taking the NCLEX? No reputable profession would allow this. If you can't pass it after three attempts then you shouldn't be allowed to practice as an RN. Boards of nursing should grant them an LVN license only!

What's a "ppl"? What is "bc"?

Somehow, your posts haven't convinced me that you know how to differentiate a "GREAT" nurse or a better nurse that a "ppl" (whatever that is) who passed on the first try.

And while I congratulate you on passing the first time, I'm not impressed with the clarity or professionalism of your writing, either. This post is not all that clear.

he/she is using "text speak" which is a clear violation of TOS here. I think the thread really HAS run its course.

I passed the 1st time! And my schools pass rates are high. Top in the state but other than THAT like I said nothing was like the NCLEX. Classmates agreed. I still do not believe you should be given three tries. Sorry. Not sorry. And for whoever said they took it more than once.. What if they said you had to pass it on the first try? I just feel alot of you are stating that fact bc you haven't experienced not passing. Like I said I know many GREAT nurses who are better nurses than ppl who passed on the first try.

If you are going to rip people apart a least do it in a grammatically correct way. I don't know why people feel to need to use "text speak" on the internet. Once you log on does all common sense go out the window?

I think the three try rule makes sense. Some people have honest test anxiety. If those people only got one shot there would be a severe nursing shortage.

Ok. This is a board on the internet for that matter. (I'm typing on my phone-- perhaps how you might text on text messages) This is not a professional paper. If you do not know that (ppl) means people or bc means because.. (Who cares). I have noticed a trend on this board where some people tend to be condescending or act "above" others. I guarantee you I am very educated and "PROFESSIONAL" smh!

Of course I would suggest this now that I'm a nurse lol: the NCLEX should include a performance portion just like it does for CNAs. Give a scenario or two or five where an NCLEX candidate has to delegate, put in iv, assess patient and intervene accordingly. Don't determine if a nurse is safe just through a multiple choice test ... have them SHOW you through simulation!

You can't prove it by what you're posting here. Text speak is against TOS. In addition to that, it's rude and unprofessional.

At this point, the subject has been discussed in length.

We wish everyone well on the NCLEX.
