When the US government legalizes weed at the federal level will nurses be allowed to smoke weed?
Not going to happen. GW Pharmaceuticals is bringing to market a new drug called Epidiolex in 6 to 8 weeks. It is 98% CBD, 1% THC and 1% other fillers.
DEA rescheduled marijuana September 28,2018 for this one drug company. Rescheduled from 1 to 5. Again, only for this one drug company. The drug is
being brought to market for migraines. The drug will cost 32k per year for a RX per the investor website. Medicaid is going to cover but I am not sure what percentage a patient will be responsible for. Maybe someone else can find out.
Lobbying is too great. NEVER will the USA will this be federally legalized. The pharmaceutical companies are far ahead in this with research. I personally believe that no more states will need to allow medical marijuana. You will go to your provider, get a rx and go to the drug store to fill. End of story.

Epidiolex, approved for the treatment of seizures in people with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome or Dravet syndrome, is classified as a Schedule 5 drug. As far as I'm aware, marijuana remains classified as a Schedule 1 drug.
And what about the therapeutic compounds in the cannabis plant? Anyone go through the American Cannabis Nurses Association certification?Unlike alcohol, no one has ever died directly from marijuana use. We haven't scratched the surface of the possible uses for the PLANT. It is a plant; not a man made chemical cocktail. It is not hepato toxic. Does not cause slowing in the gut. Yet offers a new treatment for pain relief, anti convulsive, anti emetic...
To quote comedian Denis Leary , " Pot doesn't lead to other drugs...it leads to carpentry."
The fear mongering over recreational cannabis is ridiculous. Ask 5 police officers who they would rather have to interact with: drunk or someone who is high on cannabis. I have. They all said cannabis.
By the way: it's called Cannabis. Not weed or Marijuana or other street names.
I don't smoke weed, drink alcohol or even take NSAIDS. I have family members who participate. They live in legal states.
I think it comes down to personal choice. If you are not harming anyone or yourself what you do on your own time is your business.
Please educate yourselves with real information about the plant.
Thanks for the education bro. I get all my evidence based practice from Dennis Leary. I was kind of against The Plant but now that I know it causes carpentry I will definitely start my kids on it. Jesus was a carpenter. Thou hast made a point.
As a poster from our neighbors to the north mentioned, the US likes it's drug tests. Problem with marijuana is it stays in the system much longer than alcohol so unlike alcohol it would be nearly impossible to prove impairment based on a drug test. I can see the argument from the BON side for not allowing it's use despite legal status based on this. I can see the potential in our litigious society for medical malpractice suits claiming a provider was "high" while providing care and with a very likely positive drug test how can the person being sued prove they weren't under the influence at the time? Sadly these are issues that will probably need to worked out before the powers that be decide that marijuana use will be accepted for licensed health care workers.
