I don't know either. A good start might be to go to the Boards of Nursing sites and check out their criteria. I do think most have sections on such requirements.

flyingbird the US is looking for nurses from overseas. sometimes you have take a skills test or finish a short class but Im sure you could find a job here.

One thing to remeber is that China and the US have very different healthcare systems. Im sure you would be able to teach Us nurses a thing or 2 about chineese medicine but it might be a huge culture shock for you, if you arent expecting it.

Hi, everyone, Thank you for your response and sorry for not replying in time.

I have known the requirenemt for working as a nurse in the U.S and now I am applying for the NCLEX-RN in New York, which is a troublesome procedure.

In order to find a nursing job in America, the most important thing for me is improve my spoken English ,pass the NCLEX-RN and build up my work experience. I am going to work at part time , but I don't know whether American employer acknowledge my part-time work ewxperience. Do you know it?

As to the questions of Cheerfuldoer, I think I really want to work as a nurse in the U.S,

A lot of employers take no experience at all. So part-time experience will be a plus.

Sorry, I haven't finished my post today, because at that time ,my advisor came back, I had to stop. Now let me answer the questions ofCheerfuldoer. As what I said ,I really want to work in the U.S as a nurse,because I think it is a good chance to know about American nursing and it will be beneficial to my future career in my country.

In China, nursing is just a job which is affiliated to doctors, so many people look down on the job. Apart from that, nurses often work overtime but they are not be paid for their extra work,which I think is very unfair. As to their sarary, they are paid by month, about Rmb2000-3000,that is $250-400(very low).

What about nursing in the U.S? Although I know some from the internet , Iwant to hear the voice of the native nurses from the U.S. Ok?

Hi flyingbird, as a graduate and licensed outside of the US, in order to practice nursing here, you need to pass the CGFNS,TOEFL, TSE, then you can apply to take the NCLEX. It's a lot of paper work but that's just the way it is.

The CGFNS Certification Program is designed specifically for first-level, general nurses educated and licensed outside the United States who wish to assess their chances of passing the U.S. registered nurse licensing exam, the NCLEX-RN® examination, and attaining licensure to practice as registered nurses within the United States. http://www.cgfns.org
