I am a US BSN graduate but I have been deported due to my family's immigration case.

Hello everyone, im new to the site and this is my first posting. I have been living in the United States since I was 5 years old and I am 23 now. I graduated from UNLV on August 2008. A week after, immigration came to my house and arrested me and my family for overstaying our visa's. I spent two months in jail before finally being deported. I do not blame my family for my unfortunate situation. Even though I had nothing to do with the case since I was a minor at the time, I was labeled a fugitive and as a result have been exiled for ten years. I love my family, they put me through school and now that I have finished, I am their only hope left.

We are living in the Philippines now and im still trying to adjust. I was planning on taking the NCLEX here but realized that it was only good for the US. I plan to relocate to Canada to work as an RN over there but I do not even know where to start. If anyone has information and is willing to share please do so. I am stuck in a rut and am in need of some real help. Thank you all for your time and God Bless. I do not have readily available internet access as I must go to cafes to log in so I may not respond right away. Thank you all again for your help.

Security clearances are required to work here, so a deportation order will show up.

So what? It's not a criminal offense. Please explain how it's going to affect emigration to Canada should she decide to go there.

Hey Moonlessnight, check this website out:

http://geo.international.gc.ca/can-am/detroit/visas/inadmissible-en.asp

It explains who is inadmissible to Canada. You should read it.

Take care!

Thanks for the website, I checked it out! I also posted on a Canadian immigration forum and they said that nothing I did would exclude me from being able to go to over there.

Im also not to keen on that teaching job since I do not feel qualified at all, but my friend did say that some of their teachers were new graduates as well haha. Im going to look into it first and maybe speak to their Dean. Thanks again everyone!

here in the phils, new grad nurses can be CI even w/o clinical experience & master's degrees :-(

^ Actually that's against the law. RA 9173 specifically states that 1 year hospital exp and master's degree is required.

don't you also need to have a local license?

Kosmonavt,

Good point, I have been searching for several hours yesterday and today on if that could be grounds for inadmissibility into Canada and I have found nothing yet so that would be nice if OP of this statement could explain the impact that this could have (if any and how).

Being deported especially for overstaying a visa is not a criminal offense, does not endanger anybody, and does not pose a security threat. Yes, it will show up on the FBI police certificate but what happens then?

I feel that a lot of times people confuse criminal law and immigration law. It is not the same.

Please be aware that when one is deported from the US, then they cannot get a satisfactory police clearance and this is needed for most other countries as a start. A local license is also required as well.

.

Hello!

Suzanne4 Could you please explain what you mean by "cannot get a satisfactory police clearance"? What do you mean by "satisfactory" here?

Just asking because I know somebody whose husband was deported 2 years ago and she has been offered a job in BC and is thinking of moving there with him.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Each country will make their own decisions based on what they are told and in most cases the applicant will have to provide evidence. In a lot of cases I would say discuss with a immigration lawyer who has experience in the country applied. Even then it is only advice until immigration make their decision

I have read that too but it only addresses criminal convictions. You're right she should probably ask a canadian immigration lawyer before going forward.

There are so many that are actually teaching there that post here all of the time and they never have had one day of actual work experience as an RN before they started to teach.

Perhaps that is why there are so many issues with the majority of the training that is going on there now.
