I'm just curious what you guys think?? How many times have you been in the nurses station and a coworker starts talking and you say...huh?? Only to get the answer "oh, I was talking to myself"!There are several of my friends at work who are notorious for this. I tell them "unless I hear you say my name I'm just ignoring you":lol2:
I am also guilty as charged! I have been in a pt's room talking to myself (can't remember right now what it was, I think he had several IV meds needed and only 2 sites. I was going over compatibility.)ANYWAYS, I come out of my little "zone" and notice he is starring at me. RED FACED I say "oh, don't mind me. I do my best thinking out loud":lol2:
What about you??
Every nurse, CNA, etc I know (including me) talks to themselves. I don't know how many times I have joked about this to other staff!
It is true that I do my best thinking out loud, and not in my head, but so do my fellow staff members, including the docs!
You are not alone, and you are not crazy!

If a patient is concerned about my talking to myself, I will tell them it keeps the nurse focused on the treatment she/he is giving. Ifit is someone I can joke with I will tell the pt. I am off my meds...gets a laugh.
