A school in my area is starting an LPN program in the Spring and I just found about it. They only have 30 seats so it's going to be very competitive. We are required to take the TEAS and the NLN-PN entrance exam. I have the book for the NLN-RN entrance exam but I can't get the book for TEAS in time. Did anyone out there take the TEAS or PN exam? Will I be adequately prepared if I study from the NLN-RN book? If anything I would think that the NLN-RN test should be more difficult than the PN test. I know the TEAS has a grammer section but other than that...can I get away w/o buying the book? I would really rather dedicate the few days I have left until the test reviewing instead of running around trying to find these study guides. Not to mention that I already paid $25 for the RN book and I don't want to shell out another $60 for the other two.

I took both the TEAS and the NLN entrance exam for RN school.
I found each test to be entirely different. TEAS is more "common sense". Grammar is not hard at all. Math has a lot of conversions. Science isn't that bad. Definitely not as many questions as on the NLN. You can go to atitesting.com and buy a TEAS online exam for $27. I think you get 3 different tests. If you're taking the TEAS on the computer I would definitely recommend buying this. It will make you much more comfortable when taking the test.
I studied the NLN book for months. The Math had more geometry then I expected. The Science was not like the book at all! A lot of basic bio which I haven't had in years.
I scored a little higher on the TEAS but was extremely satisifed w/ the results of both tests.
Good luck. Don't stress yourself by cramming. :0)

like the other poster said, go to ati and get their workbook. but skip the online test, it's not 3 different tests, it's the same one. as someone who remembers test questions very easily I was super bummed about this.

I havent taken any tests yet, but I just thought I would say "GOOD LUCK"!!!
Thanks a bunch! I didn't realize I could buy an online test from ATI institute. I have been reviewing a lot but I don't want to over do it by trying to cram with so little time.

I have to take the TEAS on 11/30, so I purchased the book from ATI's site for $27 and did overnight shipping for $18. I used some of my financial aid funds to purchase it and I think it's money well spent.
Good Luck!

The mock TEAS on ATI.testing is a rip-off. While it does give you an idea of what kind of questions will be on the test, It only has 100 questions and is not a truck mock of the actual test. The "two tests" that they give you have identical questions in identical order.

I just joined the site today and I am taking the TEAS tomorrow. I was wondering what kind of conversions questions..like how many meters in a centimeter? Things of that nature.

The TEAS study guide is available at ATI website & is very helpful. Although you may not have time to order it, did you check your schools library & bookstore. At my college it was available in the library resource department and I bought the book from our bookstore. Also, I would go to the Department of Nursing and ask if they have a copy that you would be able to borrow or review at their office for a few hours. Sometimes they won't let you take it out but won't be opposed to your looking at it in the office. Also I would go to a nursing class (right before it started) and ask if anyone has a TEAS book you could buy from them. That way you could probably get it the next day-- cheaper---and have time to study.

I just took the TEAS yesterday. The study guide from ati would help, the questions aren't the same as the ones on the test, but it gives you an idea of the type of questions that will be given. Make sure you know HOW to do everything in the study guide and you should be fine. I would practice doing the math while being timed with no calculator and know all conversions in the study guide very well! Also, if you aren't a strong speller, I suggest practicing by looking at 4 different ways to spell a word, trying to find the correct word. I wished I would have done this. It sometimes confuses me more to see 4 different options, than to just spell it out on paper. I was surprised there weren't more Anatomy questions on the science part. I also think you need to read each question carefully, and make sure you know what they are asking for. Overall I did really well, but I studied ALOT! I thought the practice tests I bought online helped me more with becoming familiar with how the test would work (format) & the type of questions it would ask. It didn't help with learning any material, but I was glad I did it.
If you have any other questions, just let me know. Good Luck!:roll
For some reason...I think you passes the TEAS with a good score. Great Job! Nursing school here we come...I sure hope they are ready for us:rotfl:
