I take the NET test this thursday (03/13/2008)

I will be taking the NET this Thursday and I am STRESSED OUT!!! I feel this is the "deciding factor" of my future and I am am scared to death I will not make a high enough score on it to be accepted. I will be totally devastated:cry::crying2: if I do not make it. I have been going to school since 2003 working on all the pre-nursing classes , I am finally on my very last one this semester A & P II. My friends & family tell me to chill out and I will do fine on it but they do not understand that this test to me is the MOST important test I HAVE ever taken so far in my ENTIRE LIFE and if I do not pass it I will feel like a complete FAILURE:crying2:. I have been studying religious every day and I just can not seem to retain the math formulas...I have to look at an example of the way it is set up in order to do it every time. I KNOW for a fact the NURSING is my calling in life but what can you do if you simple can not get into the program??? Please someone offer some advice for me I am worrying myself sick here..thanks for listening to me ramble on but I just needed to express my feelings to someone that has went through or going down the road of self doubt like myself right now. :o

Two things. First, relax. I think that moderate test anxiety is good because it forces a tester to stay focused, however. Severe test anxiety is crippling and I think you're headed down that path. Therefore, pull out all of the coping mechanisms you have learned over the years e.g., exercise, shopping, recreational reading, going to the beach, etc. in order to calm yourself down. Ask yourself; what's the absolute worst outcome of failing this test? You have to pay $25 dollars to retake it. No big deal. Plus, you'll take it a second time armed with the experience and knowledge you gained from taking it already. Failing the NET doesn't mean that you're going to face a firing squad outside of the testing center.

Second, take practice tests in an environment that closely resembles the atmosphere of the testing center. Specifically, don't run to the study guide when you hit an obstacle, but really try to recall the formulas you're learning. I think a lot of people use study guides too much while studying and they become dependent on it as a crutch. You won't have that crutch during the test so better to fall down now then on Thursday. Also, I found that the practice tests in the study guide I used were more difficult than the actual NET test. Good luck!

I feel your pain! I am scheduled to take the NET on 3/25 and i am as equally as nervous as you are. Just know that you are not in it alone! I will keep you in my prayers and Good Luck!!!!

When I took the NET a few weeks ago, I found that the math section was a little easier than the practice test, but the reading portion was a little less straightforward than the practice test. I carefully took the practice test (link below) and timed myself:

The questions in the practice test were very representative of what's on the actual test.

You'll do fine!

the math on the net is so easy that it is even discusting! you wont have to bother with huge equations, calculus, college algebra...

it is basicaly the basic stuff

So Carlos are there any type of science or anatomy questions on the NET test? And i heard that the reading comprehension is harder than the math portion is that true? And about how many questions are on the test?

The NET I took only had the reading and the math sections. No science or anatomy or I would have been in big BIG trouble! I think there were 60 math questions and about 30? reading questions (how quickly we forget  ). When I was doing the reading section, sometimes I got stuck because 2 of the answers seemed correct to me so I had to choose between them. Maybe read the questions first before you read the paragraph??? Just a thought. I finished the test in 2 hours.

How did it go?? :anpom:

How did it go??

If you're asking me, I thought it was pretty easy overall. It took me 2 hours to complete and I got an 82% composite.

Hi Everyone!!! Well I took the NET Thursday......I have to say it was NOT as bad as I thought it was going to be.....BUT the reading section that I was not worried about was very TRICKY. The math was not too bad, but I still used all the time allowed and every one of the 4 pieces of scrap paper he gave me:D.

NOW is the waiting game for the scores, I do not think I did too bad but I do not know if I did good enough to be excepted though:sniff:. I am applying for the LPN and RN so hopefully I will get into one or the other..at this point I really do not care either way... I just want " to get my foot in door" :D

I did my best and I am satisfied with that...so if I have to take it over I KNOW exactly what to expect the next time.;)

That was exactly my experience: The math isn't bad at all but the reading is kind of tricky.

Here's hoping you did fine (and I'm keeping everything crossed that you did) :heartbeat
