I survived A&P I&II!!

Published

It's over! and I came out with A's!!

Many tears/stress/loss of free time and sanity, but my 7 1/2 month journey has come to an end!

I remember my first day of A&P1 - I was shaking in my shoes, because I had read all of the horror stories here, and many times during the course I felt as if I wasn't cut out for it, but it's done!!:yeah::eek::D

anyone else?

Congratulations. Me too (just took my final last evening). Should find out tomorrow (Thurs) if I am going to get an A or a B (depends on my grade on the final although it did not seem too bad). I hope those who have to take it in the future don't get too scared. It is work but it is doable. I took it along with working 40+ hours a week and microbiology last semester and got As in both lecture and lab and took it this semester with 3 other classes and feel I did well. I can only suggest to keep reading the information over and over because it is a lot of memorization but is very fascinating.

Congrats!! :yeah: I got an A in A+P 1 last year and got a B in A+P 2 this spring. I worked really hard and was hoping for an A, but a B is still good.

Congrats again and good luck to everyone who is getting ready to take A+P!!

I have a couple more weeks of APII and then I'll be taking Micro (MY LAST CLASS!!! :yeah:) this summer so I can apply in the fall... To those of you starting out- DONT STRESS! You'll be fine! Study, study, study.....

I took my A&P II lecture final today. My lab final was a week and a half ago, and we still haven't received our grades. The anticipation is killing me!

I got a high B in A&P I, but found A&P II MUCH harder....the material was more in depth and there was so much more to cover. We had two cadavers and prosections, and lots of parts and models. The instructor tagged parts on the cadavers, parts, and prosections and we had to identify them. My guess would be that a lot of schools do it that way, but wow - I found it very difficult. The instructor doesn't tag things like the gallbladder or the cystic duct - it was always the much more difficult veins, arteries, nerves, etc.

I have never studied so much for anything in my entire life, and I already have a BS degree. Last semester I took four classes, including A&P I, and made the Dean's List. This semester the only class I took was A&P II and I studied far more than I did for all four classes combined last semester. I should add that I work full-time and am a single mother. I was sick for 5 weeks this semester (never found out what was wrong...had terrible stomach pain and we thought it was H pylori or a pancreatic issue, but all tests were okay) so that didn't help. I missed a quiz and of course was not allowed to make it up, despite having a doctor's note. *sigh*

I'm not sure what my final grade is going to be...I still have no idea what I got on the lab final. I did okay in lecture but lab is 40% of my grade. Even if I come out with a C, I think I may retake the class in the fall. The nursing school I'm applying to accepts Cs for science classes, but I want to do a BSN-MSN and think I'm going to need at least a B to get accepted.

Sorry for babbling :o

To those who haven't taken A&P I and/or II yet:

I found both parts I and II very interesting and really enjoyed both. Just be prepared to study a LOT. Make sure you keep up with the professor's pace. Use as many resources as you can to help you gain a strong understanding of the material.

Congrats for the Great grades! It truly takes some hard work. I just finished both of my A&Ps also, with an A in both so anyone who is working on A&P and using cats, look up PROFESSOR FINK on youtube! He is SO great! I had an especially hard time memorizing all the muscles, and he goes through and very clearly shows you each part, origin and insertion, and is just as thorough in his other topics as well. http://www.youtube.com/user/professorfink

I also would draw out the parts I was learning... im no artist but it really helped me.

i'm retaking A&P II this summer. First time around was pretty tough on me but i'm not giving up. stick with it.

I just finished A&P 1 in a 3 week intersession. Intense but worth it! I got an A and will be moving on to 2 in the fall. Was well worth all of the hard work! =) If I can do it in intersession, anyone can!

I'm on quarters, but this year I took A&P 1, 2 and Micro. All A's (well Micro is not done until next week, fingers crossed.) I never thought I could do it. I was so overwhelmed the first day of A & P 1. It flew by....

i feel so relieved it is over!!! i got b's in both. i feel like doing cartwheels up and down the street!

now the stress of micro is on my shoulders. i start monday.

I was intimidated by A&P so much that I waited 15 years after my first college experience to finally go for nursing, which I have wanted to do since then. Not only did I get A's, but my professors of A&P and Micro even nominated me for an award for academic excellence in the Natural Sciences department at my school. It was a huge honor (I was one of the last four they narrowed it down to.) I didn't get the award, but the pride I felt to have been considered as deserving by my professors was huge!!

Can't wait to start nursing school and take on the challange of that now! Good luck to everyone:)

I received a "B" in A&P I and II!!! I was so excited when I received my Spring semester grades. I just finished my application essay for nursing school and will be sending in my application. I am currently taking Developmental Psychology and will be taking Micro in the Fall. Congrats to everyone! :yeah:
