Thanks for all the tips. I also just graduated in May and started in OB 2 weeks ago:) I am definately going to use this advice!

I just graduated in May after doing my precepting on the OB unit at my local hospital where I wanted to work. I asked the manager about the possibility of getting hired on at the unit and she said that it would definately give me an edge and demonstrate my commitment to them if I had my EFM and NRP. I did get the job and started 2 weeks ago:) If it's where you want to work it definately doesn't hurt to get it. It gives you much more confidence when you hit the floor too!

I'll be starting in the fall as well. I have 3 boys aged 6, 3 and 20 months and we just started building a house that I am starting to think will not be done by the time I start school. Starting to panic a little about the idea of packing and moving in the middle of school! I have a mom friend who just finished her first semester and she is making me a little nervous about the program. Like myself she didn't struggle much through micro or A&P, and she said she thought people who complained about how hard nursing school was were just being crybabies, but her first week in school she said she felt like the crybaby! She also just ran into a friend from the program this week and felt like she wanted to throw up from the thought of having to go back in the fall. Not what I wanted to hear! But at least I can mentally prepare for the madness and not go into it thinking it's going to be one bit easy. But it's doable. She survived and I will too. I am just anxious to get started and see what it's really going to be like for me. Good luck! I'd love to hear how it's going for you after you start:)

This is a great thread that gave me lots of great ideas. I'm starting school in the fall and have just heard that it's different than any other kind of schooling I have experienced. All the posts here have made it a lot more clear of what to expect. Thanks, and I can't wait to read more:)

I was intimidated by A&P so much that I waited 15 years after my first college experience to finally go for nursing, which I have wanted to do since then. Not only did I get A's, but my professors of A&P and Micro even nominated me for an award for academic excellence in the Natural Sciences department at my school. It was a huge honor (I was one of the last four they narrowed it down to.) I didn't get the award, but the pride I felt to have been considered as deserving by my professors was huge!! Can't wait to start nursing school and take on the challange of that now! Good luck to everyone:)
