I seriously do not know what to do!

So I'm currently attending SFSU as a pre-nursing major. My cumulative gpa is a 3.2 and my prerequisite GPA so far is a 3.3, leaving me with Anatomy and Physiology to complete. I'm completely disappointed in myself because the only school I had applied to so far was USF. I should have known I wouldn't get accepted. Now I'm hoping to apply to Holy Names University as well as Mills College in Oakland because of their partnership program with Samuel Meritt. I've been slacking so much in applying because they weren't assigned deadlines, but had rolling admissions and I feel like it's really messing me up. I really do not want to attend SFSU next fall because I know I won't be able to finish my prerequisites as well as get into their program there due to the huge impaction. I really don't know what to do this upcoming fall. Finish my prerequisites at a CC and apply to another CSU program? Think my chances are slim? Any advice?

Have you thought about attending a nursing program at a private university? I have found that those are less competitive and are more lax in terms of gpa.

I second the private school route. Focus on getting RN plastered next to your name and not where you get it. No matter where you get your degree you'll be taking the same NCLEX.

And if you're not selected, keep applying. Remember, they're looking to fill a certain number of seats every semester. If you're right on the edge of what's typically accepted, all it takes is that once for you to be in that top bracket. And sometimes they may award persistency points... You didn't give up, so they might bump a couple points in your favor.

do not give up! keep on applying to different schools,CC,CSU,private,wherever! have you considered taking a minor at SFSU?

ICK no private schools! They are way too expensive and in case you haven't heard, the bay area is OVER IMPACTED with RN's!!!!! So its not like your guaranteed a job afterward to pay back those huge loans!

There are plenty of good CSU's (and UC's) to apply to. If you have to wait an extra semester to apply that is better than being like $60K in debt.

If you are able to move, I would. Again there is a lot of CSU's up and down the state that you could apply to.

Also have you looked into ADN programs? I know your in CA like me (I am in SO CAL tho) and I know hospitals aren't really hiring anyone, but they want a BSN over an ADN. I mean you probably can get in an ADN program near you if you can't move or get into any close CSU's. Then after you get your RN do a BSN bridge right away and hopefully by then the economy will be less sucky and you can get a job

I have not heard too many people talk about the CC nursing route and get an RN. Then if you want, apply for a BSN later. At least, you have your feet in the door.

When I'm all done, I will have the option of taking about 6-9 classes (something like 26 units) and I could get the BSN upgrade OR I could take approximately 12-14 units (about 4 classes) and then I'd be qualified to enter an MSN program as I already have a Bachelor's...
