I am so happy!!!! I just found out I passed my State exam. I felt good about the written exam and it turns out I scored 96% on the written.
I felt like an absolute moron on the skills test, I really thought I failed. I was so nervous, I almost barfed. I took such good care of my residents/patients during clinicals, but it was like my brain left my body during the State Skills test. I'm just so relieved I passed. I actually cried when I found out I passed. Seriously, I cried. That's how bad I thought I did.
I know this sounds so silly, but I'm just so proud. Now, if I can only get into nursing school and pass. That's my next goal. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
Good luck to everyone on their CNA exams! May everyone achieve their goals and dreams!

Hi, and congrats to you!
I live in Knoxville also and will be attending TTC in November for CNA, where did you take your CNA classes? I was surpirsed at the waiting list for the class considering they have a full time day and part-time evening class as well. Again congrats to you!!!

I went through the Red Cross Nursing Assistant program. I thought it provided excellent training. They offer both a day course and a night course. The cost of the course is a little higher than the TTC courses but it does include the cost of your State Exam Testing fee and includes certification in First Aid and CPR. Also, the State uses the Red Cross on Middlebrook as their testing site in Knoxville.
The Knoxville Red Cross web site is: www.knoxarc.org
I really loved the RN, Kristin, who taught our class. She was wonderful! We also went through alot of clinical hours, which I think is very valuable. It's one thing to do perineal care on a "dummy" in a classroom, it's another thing to do it on a human being. I think it's really important to get as much practical experience as possible.
I loved all the people in my class! We had a great group! Everyone in the class wants to pursue further education in the medical field. We had several girls who were either currently doing their prerequisites or were already enrolled in nursing school. Gosh, we even had a guy who was Pre-Med at UT. Great, great group of folks! All ages and backgrounds!
Oh, also, check out the Tennessee CNA Testing site. This is the company that the state contracts their testing though. It is located at www.hdmaster.com
It will have the new testing book showing all the skills you must learn. You can also get a head start on some of the memorization.
Good luck to you and feel free to email me if you have any other questions. I will be happy to help you any way I can.
Thank you so much for the info, I will definately look into that site for some practice material since I still have almost 2 months before I begin my classes. I am really looking forward to this and was so disappointed when I went to sign up for the Oct. class and it was full. I hope to be able to follow with the LPN program some day...but until then I know I will enjoy being a CNA. Good luck to you as well and thanks again.
