Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I've seen on threads where students record their lectures. I want to try that when I start school in January. My situation is different this time and I'll have to work as a phlebotomist at night and attend classes around noon after my sister finishes hers so I won't have as much time to study as Im used to. Does anybody have a digital audio/voice recorder they recommend? I'm asking my boyfriend for Christmas and since money is tight due to our four month old I want to get recommendations before I ask for a certain 1. Hes a male so he won't know what to get . Thanks in advance.:Evil-Pumpkin:
Thats funny for some reason. When it vibrates can you still hear the teacher? I'm guessing not.

I have to say, as another student, this drives me insane. Most of us put our recorders/phones on a table in front of where professor lectures. When one persons phone starts vibrating, it rattles on the table and messes up everyone's recordings. Except my friend, she keeps her at her desk, in the third row (so about 20 feet from professor, if not more) and it's clear as a bell, with no rattles.

Lol yep. Even if your not recording having the whole table rattle is annoying/distracting

I turn off vibration and text/mail notifications when I record. Nothing is that urgent during class. The app Voice Record Pro (VRP 7) free on iOS will record even if screen is in power save mode. I've recorded 90 minutes continuous and can back up to a cloud or google drive.

Check school policy on recording lectures. Many require instructor permission.

Get a handheld recorder. Quick trip to Best Buy or Target or that other place That Shall Not Be Named....

Using my iPhone's recorder is the fastest way to a dead battery.

I never used by phone to record, so I'm not sure. I like my recorder, I can send you a recording of one of my lectures to let you listen to the quality. Just give me your email. One bit of advice is keep a spare set of batteries because I dont keep track when they are low and in the middle of lecture it when completely dead. Luckily my study partner had a recorder too lol

Silence your notifications in your settings and it shouldn't be a problem. Always worked for me

If you use a laptop or tablet in the class I would use the voice recorder on that, I have done it for several classes and never had an issue, I have also used my cell phone but make sure your phone is on silent not vibrate or you will hear it every time you get a notification, other than that I never had an issue with using my cell phone. Regardless of what you are using to record, you will want to make sure you can upload to a computer (which makes it so much more convenient and you will actually use it that way) it is also helpful to try and make several recordings throughout the class so if you are having trouble with one part you can just go back to that section of the lecture instead of trying to find it (which can be a pain). I usually tried to break mine up every 10-15 min or whenever he would switch major topics.

I use the audio recorder app that comes standard with my iPhone. I put it on airplane mode during class to avoid any notifications or call interruptions.

Okay, got the model number if my friends recorder.

Sony ICD-PX333.

It's on Amazon for less than $50 and it's the #1 best seller. They also have refurbished ones on eBay for $37. I'm telling you, it's amazing.

I use a Livescribe and I am obsessed with it. It digitizes my notes, records lectures, has apps. I can tap on a page of my notes and it replays what the prof was saying at time when I was writing the specific note on the paper.

I recommend the Livescribe Smart Pen, there are more than one variety. Look them up on livescribe dot com. Those notebooks are a tremendous help. You can go back and fill in places you missed, and all sorts of stuff. Well worth the initial outlay.
