Hello I need some advice regarding nursing programs in Miami Fl. I currently have a BS in Exercise Physiology, and due to the economic crisis of some fl hospitals I have been laid off. I am having a terrible time looking for work. I love the baptist program however I do not speak spanish. I have been taking some courses at Miami dade, but i feel that it is impossible to get into. I can not get into a BSN program because i repeated a nutrition class when i was 20. My advisor suggested going the LPN route. Does this sound correct? I dont want to waste time getting degrees i do not need. I have 3 already. BS education. BS exercise Phys, and an AAS. I need to work so a fast track program would be great. Miami lakes was suggested. I am studying for my gre and plan to go to st Augustine next year for my dpt. But i have a kid and need to work. So I am thinking of nursing to supplement my salary while i am in school for my dpt. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated .

If nursing is not your goal then why go into it? There is a shortage of new grad LPN and RN jobs.
You could do a CNA certification course and have an easier time finding a job.
Good luck on the GRE :)

You can find a list of the ABSN programs at http://www.aacn.nche.edu/IDS/pdf/BSNNCG.pdf/. There are many in Florida

Depending on where you live, new grad LPN's may have a hard time getting jobs in a lot of places. My area hospitals have stopped hiring LPN's altogether and seems like they can only get job's in a long term care.
