When I first started out it was an occasional visit to lurk,
then I started lurking more often,
then I started visiting all the time,
then I actually REGISTERED,
then I started posting responses
now - I have started a "thread"
Wow - I really need help!

You make it sound like this is a bad thing?

I'm with ya Crunch. It's not a bad thing.... just habit forming. I can't get through the day without my allnurses fix!

But you are communicating with nurses such as yourself. It's when you get on a general chat room and find yourself having to go back again and again that id worry. Your fine, where would you be on the internet if you werent here? It's safer here than those general chat/bb sites, most of those are just plain scarey.

Oh, Crunch - this truly is the beginning of the end!
I'm like you - I started out just surfing by, I don't even know how my habit started. I registered two years ago, and posted a couple of times. Then, somehow, I forgot about the board, and only came back six months ago.
Now I come almost every day. At work (I'm on nights) I click 'new posts since last visit' every twenty minutes to see what's happening. My friends think I have an allnurses problem, but I tell them "I'm fine. Really. Actually, someone posted a thread about addiction the other day..." and I'm off.
If I'm talking to my friend Sarah-Lou I have to say that I read 'somewhere' that this interesting thing happened, because I'm not allowed to mention the website by name. According to her I have a problem, but I know is she just posted once, she'd understand.
Come on, just one post... it won't hurt you...!
Edited to add:
It's 2:08. I have to be up by nine AM. But as I was getting ready for bed I realised that it had been about thirty hours since I'd been on the site, and I won't be able to visit tomorrow until after ten PM. Who knows what I'd miss! So here I am. But I can stop. Anytime I want to :)

Ah, Crunch, I know the feeling well. LOL
I am truly addicted to allnurses. But it's wonderful. Have met so many fantastic people and learned so much. To me its just like one big happy gathering of friends to sit around and chat with. As addictions go, this seems the best to have.
Enjoy!
