Hi everyone,
I know I haven't been around in awhile and I apologize for that. It's been an intense first semester of nursing school. The bad news is that I checked my grades this morning on the internet and I didn't make it. I earned a "D" for the course. I thought I did so well on my final, but I guess I didn't do as well as I thought. I worked soooo hard, studied hard, etc. Now I have to spend my spring semester bringing my GPA back up, before I can apply to another nursing school. Part of me just feels like giving up, I spent so much time away from my 4 children to study....it's like I did it for nothing. But I'm not going to give up....I am going to be an RN..... :)
Congratulations to everyone who made it through this semester.....keep up the good work. And to those who didn't make....don't give up.....don't give up....don't give up.
Hugs,
Fatima

Same thing happened to me. I missed passing one of my courses by less than half a point. Now I have to start the entire program over again. It wasn't for nothing....you'll ace everything next time around, and so will I. Keep on going....like you said...you ARE going to be an RN.

To see you so encouraged to try and go another time is wonderful! I know you'll do an even better job next time and pass it all! Just never give up on your dreams!

Fatima, I know what you're going through. I made a D in Fundamentals and I felt like giving up and I was looking at different majors. But when I was talking to my fiance about it, he encouraged me to stay with nursing. So I went up to my school to talk to my advisor about dropping the 3 classes I was already registered for and take an A&P class to get ready for the RN program. But when I told her that was the reason I wanted to take A&P she said that the curriculum was changing and that I can enter the RN program in the fall.
So, had I have given up, I would never had gotten the oppertunity to go further in my dream. My long term goal was to be an RN. The only reason that I went for LPN was because I didn't score high enough on the ACT to enter the RN program and even that's not required anymore. When my advisor told me I can enter the RN program in the fall my whole attitude changed. I did a complete 180.
Now I am excited about perusing my dream more than ever now that I have an oppertunity to go further in that path. I know just as much as everybody else in this forum that in nursing school, you'll hit many bumps in the road, as well as some potholes. I've hit a pothole and I have salvaged it. No matter how many bumps or potholes you hit, all you gotta do is stay on the road.

Fatima - I'm so sorry to hear that!
Does your school not have a retention-type program where you can sit out and try the course again next year?

(((((HUGS))))) With that positive attitude you will go soooooo far! I am so sorry you didn't make it this term, but I truly believe the best people and nurses are those who aren't afraid to brush themselves off and try again.
