Found this Nov. 10th story on Medium-- viewpoint of a writer living in Sri Lanka. I remember the Sri Lanka government upheaval and following bombing of churches at Easter and mosques with hundreds of deaths. Some stores remain boarded up in Center City Philadelphia. Next few weeks critical for our democracy to remain intact. Karen
You’ve already lost. This is what Americans need to understand
QuoteTwo years ago, I lived through a coup in Sri Lanka. It was stupid.
The minority party threw chili powder at everyone in Parliament and took over by farce. Math, however, requires a majority and the courts kicked them out. They gave in. We’d been protesting for weeks and yay, we won.
No.
I didn’t know it at the time, but we had already lost. No one knew — but oh my God, what we lost. The legitimate government came back but it was divided and weak. We were divided and weak. We were vulnerable....
...What is a coup? It’s literally a cut. Someone taking government power that doesn’t belong to them, and cutting legitimate power out. In our case it was occupying Parliament without a majority. In yours it’s denying the President-Elect after an election. This is a cut, it’s a wound. Whether it fails or not, deep structural damage is done. At the time, however, it just feels dumb.

The behavior is predictable at this point. Trump cult members project their emotional turmoil onto everyone else. It's all that's left after facts, evidence, reason and critical thought have been abandoned to follow a man. When Trump supporters frequent media outlets that focus and talk about division and "hate" 5x more frequently than any other msm, it's no surprise that they see and project those feelings and emotions wherever they feel conflict or disagreement.
It's predictable that the despot won't concede. Predictable that Trump would continue to divide the country in his defeat. Predictable that those fully indoctrinated into the cult will refuse to accept Trump's defeat or the legitimacy of Biden's presidency. Predictable that Trump's team would sow as much destruction and chaos in a many areas as possible on his way out. That will give Trump and his cult lots of fodder for criticizing the incoming administration for dysfunctional government...so predictable.
Similarly, we can all rest assured that come January 20, 2021, McConnell and every congressional republican will suddenly become very concerned about the debt and deficit. So, so predictable.

They say we should bury the hatchet and "unite" as a country -but would they?
They would NOT -they never accepted the results of the 2016 election.
When democrats say we should "unite" and they talk about "peace"- what they are really saying is we should just shut up and let them have their way. But submission is NOT unity, nor does it bring peace.
We should just forget about being called "uneducated", "racist", "xenophobic", "homophobic", and "misogynistic" for the past four years by democrats. We should just forget about cities being burned and looted and people being violently assaulted just for walking down the street.
Nobody is going to be holding hands and singing Kumbaya and uniting under Biden. Those who sowed the seeds of hate, discord, and violence will reap what they have sown.
Absolutely. If it was legally proven that Democrats committed fraud and Trump was legally elected, while it would be the biggest scandal in the history of Democracy in America I would accept it. I would demand justice and jail time for people responsible.
Just prove it to me.
I'm not understanding the reference that Democrats didn't accept the Trump victory. Clinton conceded relatively quickly. Democrats certainly did accept the reality of the will of the voters. Did they cooperate with Trump and unite? No, there was a massive protest all around the country after his innaugation for Women's issues.
Republicans aren't the uniting party. McConnel is famous for saying "our #1 priority is to assure Obama is a one-term president". Not health care, not poverty, or the environment not any number of important issues.
The Tea Party was immediately formed after Obama announced his stimulus package. Instead of "uniting for the greater good of the country" in healing the economy they opposed every single thing.
You can't have it both ways and complain about Democrats and behave exactly as you are complaining about. (You being generic you, since I don't know you)
Are we going to "unite under Trump"...oh hell no.

They're not quite so brazen when appearing before a judge, however.
... In a Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, courthouse, where Trump lawyer Jonathan Goldstein presented vague insinuations of vote fraud.
You can't lie to a Judge. If a lawyer lies to a judge, he can be disbarred or suspended.

Which is why in court they aren't even making any reasonable charges, never mind not presenting any evidence, which gets their cases dismissed quickly.
QuoteBut Trump and his allies’ public allegations stand in stark contrast to what his lawyers are actually claiming— bound by professional ethics rules—in election-related cases in court. In three separate lawsuits in Pennsylvania and cases in Arizona and Nevada, Trump’s lawyers have jettisoned sweeping claims of fraud, instead focusing on relatively small-bore complaints.

The attorneys may be taking the Republican Party's (and if Trump has any campaign $ left) money but they are not willing to jeopardize their licenses!

They are no dummies. They know someone is going to be taking their money.
They also apparently paid $3 million for the recount in Wisconsin which confirmed Biden's win and give him a few extra votes. Guess they have money to burn.

I'd like to see the evidence for the "burned cities". The Target store in Minneapolis or a small tiny fraction of Portland doesn't constitute a city. And Covid rates didn't even rise in protest cities unlike the cities that are now experiencing exponential growth from the rallies - like mine:( We never experienced the first surge and after a rally here, it's real ugly. Elective surgeries are cancelled, schools are closed along with bars and restaurants. Does anyone REALLY think we can open schools without closing bars?

The clickbait to this article on Fox is "path of destruction" about the violence in Seattle in which they made a whopping four arrests. Last week was an article about New York "descending into chaos". Even with the election over it's important to paint the protestors and BLM as the enemy putting our nation at risk into going into anarchy and chaos and democrat run cities being in flames. The local news in Seattle is barely covering it.

This is the fear mongering that drives the emotional responses of the conservative voter these days. That programming language is heavily peppered with words like "hate". It's almost like an alternate reality...a mass delusion.

What's interesting is that they are fearing all the chaos and destruction that the "rioters and looters" are causing around the country, setting the country ablaze and are unconcerned about us reaching 270,000 covid-related deaths, which they don't believe in the first place because it's an inflated number and it's about government control.
They fear socialism and infringements on their religious rights, but not a real virus. Shaking my head.....

Irrational fears over imagined threat coupled with irrational response to real threat. That's Trumplandia...
