I'm somewhat tempted to advise you to enjoy the boredom; you won't have the time for it when school starts! However, I know exactly how you feel! You want to be doing SOMETHING (ANYTHING) to be productive.

Do you have any of the required books or the syllabus for any of your courses yet? Do you have pre-reqs or co-reqs to complete? If yes, then this is a good time to "preview" some material. It never hurts to begin with A&P or math review. Also, visiting sites like this one (and there's lots to read here!) is a great idea. You get to "meet" some people and find posters in the same situation as you. In addition, there are lots of experienced nurses who are incredibly helpful with various nursing topics.

Congratulations on your decision to study nursing, and I wish you the very best of luck and much success!

Im anxiously waiting for March 19th to start my first semester!!! :typing:selfbonk:

I can hardly stand waiting!!!

Classes for me start on March 12th. Since I found out I was accepted in late January, I've been reading through some of the text books so I have a leg up on classes when they start.

I have a friend that was in the course not too long ago and although I'm sure there's a new edition to the texts used, at least I can get some basic stuff back in this brain of mine.

You could always skim through some books to get some info to sink in. Maybe float around the internet and find some sites you can "practice" math etc..things like that.

Its been working for me. Now I can't wait until we get our actual texts on March 8th!!

LOL I'd give my house a really REALLY good cleaning, because I won't have time when I'm in school . . . well, I'm in school NOW and I don't have time. The house is a wreck. Not much fun, but I'd feel better!

Enjoy whatever you do, I can't wait 'til I find out I'm in!

At one of the information sessions, the program director advised us to review A&P info because we'll be expected to have a great understanding of all the basics. I organized all my old notes and will review here and there. I also got an NCLEX review book from the library just to see what all the fuss is about, reviewed medical terminology, and will also try to brush up on my Spanish.

But most of all, I'm trying to savor the free time and lack of deadlines. This won't last long :)

My advice is to relax and enjoy the time you have left before school starts!

I am a nursing student who is about to graduate, and I can tell you from experience that once you begin school, you will have very little free time. I do try to make time for myself when I can, but most of the time is spent studying, etc. If you want to do some reading ahead if you have the curriculum and textbooks, that is your prerogative, but if I were you, I would just sit back and relax...
