I really took my time with my prereqs & applying to RN programs after I graduated from my LVN program.
I would apply to bridge programs but would get rejected or be wait listed. I also really wasn't really excited to go back to school, so I wasn't putting my all into studying for the pre-admission tests (so I'm not surprised I isn't get in).
When I was ready to study & get in I found out I was pregnant so I had to put the application on hold. Then I actually got accepted into a program & had to reject the position because of my health & pregnancy.
Now that I have had my son I am second guessing whether or not I want to go back to school. The program I would be attending is in the same city & only 2 semesters. I would start when he is one & they have a day care on site but the thought of enrolling him in a day care there scares me. So I don't know if I can handle going to school now.
I also think about wanting more kids in the future & I would definitely have to quit my job. I don't know what to do now. Since I became an LVN I have wanted to be an RN. But now, I want to take care of my son & future kid(s).
I live in Texas & I wish there were more options for me to do the class portion online so I wouldn't have to be away from my son for that long.

It sounds like you can't decide if you're willing to sacrifice time with your family to finish nurwsing. If you're going to do it, then do it and don't be indecisive. However, you also mention wanting kids in the future and quitting your job as an RN. Figure out what you're going to do, and do it. You're going to have to give something up whether it's spending time with your son, waiting to have children, or wait on nursing school.
I use to be so sure that I wanted my RN but since I had my son all I want to do I be there for him. Since I want more kids in the future, my pregnancies will always be difficult & I will have to quit working, I'll probably just delay school until my kids are in school themselves.
I use to be jealous of my best friend who is a RN-BSN but I couldn't be any happier of having my son & spending every day with him.
Ok, but as has been mentioned, you have some decisions to make. No one on here can really help with that; only you know what your family needs are or may be in the future. Some people want to be a nurse more than anything, spend several years in school and then find there are no jobs to be had. Some take jobs they never wanted, just to stay in nursing. And some decide to do something else entirely.
Your posts suggest you really don't have any idea what you want, which is why all we can say is.....good luck.
If you have specific questions, people will be happy to answer. If you just want a sounding board, well.....again, good luck.
I've been an LVN for 4 years & took jobs I hated. If/when I do become an RN I'm not worried about the job market where I live because no one wants to live here & once the oil boom leaves the hospital/jail/etc will be even harder up to hire nurses.
But I think right now this is the job for me. It makes no sense to go to school then have to quit a job after a year.

Ah the fresh new mommy hormones.... Don't make any major life changing decisions right now. Enjoy your new baby and don't stress. I waited 5 months to go back to work (partially because I was laud off and the market for research scientists here is nonexistent). It was the hardest thing I did. I seconded guessed myself and hated the fact that my child had to go to daycare 3 days a week and with my in laws the other two days. But after a few months I realized that he was thriving in daycare, being able to interact with the other babies and was getting important binding time with grandparents. Plus, it made our time together all the better. That was about the same time that I decided that a career in nursing was where I needed to go. Because of him I knew that I could not sustain a dead end career in a ridiculously low paying position and I needed something more stable. Before anyone posts, yes I know there is no nursing shortage and there isn't a glut of positions however nursing is much more stable and pays higher than what I have done for the past 10 years - it's all about perspective.
In summary, enjoy your baby. Don't make any rash decisions. It will all work itself out.
Well I was going to apply to get into the fall 2015 semester when he would be one. So I kinda have to make a decision soon. Plus my life is kinda complicated... I have epilepsy so when we have more kids I will probably get put on bed rest-again-so I will have to quit my job. So I have to decide, what do I want more? Family or my career?

Only you can decide.

Thanks for saying there is not a nursing shortage and no glut of jobs. Where I live (Iowa) the lay person believes the media hype of "nursing shortage."
There are many online programs that are flexible. I wish they would have been around when I was in nurses training. My son was just an infant when I entered. It all worked out but online would have been icing on the cake at the time.

I had very difficult pregnancies as well. I have 2 children and I worked nights when they were little. If there is an onsite daycare that is very doable...you can visit on breaks and he is right there if he needs you.
Kids adapt to what their parents do. I know it's tough when they are small...but he will be fine with his day care friends.
But only your family can decide what is best. ((HUGS))
I forgot about that...delaying your school won't make an overall difference. My vote...family first. You have the rest of your life to become a RN
