I feel like burning most the LVN review books I bought as they did me no good what-so-ever on the NCLEX. The questions I got came out of left field. Stuff that wasn't taught in school like post mordum care for jewish men and questions about the Buhdist faith. I couldn't believe the questions I got. It felt like I guessed at half the questions. What a terrible feeling I have now. I have went threw the ENTIRE Saunders LNV review book and cd TWICE, that's 6,000 questions, as well as the kaplan review book, "lvn made easy", and the mosby cd. Total review questions and rationales done exceeded 8,000. Yet it didn't help me at all. Yes I read the rationales for ALL the questions/ answers. The NCSBN.ORG review was the only thing that helped me as the questions were similar to the NCLEX.
The VAST majority of question were priority questions. I had learned all the tricks to answer these in the Kaplan book. Only one big problem....the priority questions in kaplan are a complete joke (very easy) compared to the actual NCLEX ones which were brutal.
My computer shut off at 85 and I am positive I got the 85th question wrong because I looked it up when I got home. I hear if the computer stops at 85 and you miss the last question ...you most likely failed if you weren't doing so hot. I wanted to throw up when I left the testing center.
So hear I sit and have to wait 3 weeks to get result in CA. I will start checking the LVN board website next week, but I have a bad feeling my name won't be up there and I will have to take the NCLEX again.
Yeah I heard the same thing. No names are posted on the LVN website until you pay for your license. I have been waiting 15 days and still nothing! This is complete torture!! I just wanna know one way or another so I can move on. Anyone know how long you have to wait in california to retake the test if you fail? one person said 3 months and another said 6 weeks. Good luck to those of you waiting with me!!
Poohbear73,
It's 45 days from the test date according to the NCSBN website. Then you will be allowed to log on to Pearson and make your appt. from what I read.
But....hey lets not go there!! We can't think like that!
I was the 2nd in my class to take it. The 1st person hasn't heard yet and it was 3 wks Fri. But then I read another post that it took her 2 wks so maybe you'll be inbetween and hear today! But just like the exam it's probably different for everybody! So we just sit and wait...
Lucky you Angeltero with the quick results! And congrads on passing!I took mine yesterday 2/26 and have the same feelings as Big B reading back on this thread. Augh. This wait in Calif. is just torture!! How did you ever survive it Big B?
I'm beating myself up thinking I didn't get one ques. right, but I know I'm only remembering the wrong ones. I need to clear those thoughts and think positive! Now only about 2-3 wks to wait for results.
And is it true, small envelope=pass lg. envelope=fail ??
thanks
yes...small envelope is what signified my passing result. I assume the big envelope would have more info for retaking the test.
took the nclex pn yesterday...will find out results tonight they say...........test went really fast dont know exact # but it was under 100 i think........really nervous dont think i passed :angryfire
I know its hard to do but try not to dwell too much on it. What's done is done! Just remember that the majority of testers pass the nclex on the first try. Keep us posted..good luck.

I took my NCLEX-PN in September, the computer did shut off at 85 for me too! I was soooo nervous my hand could barely stay on the mouse. I studied tediously for nclex too but found there were alot of priority questions and the questions were just tricky altogether so there was a real chance in my mind that I really did fail, I felt so confused as I walked out of the testing center, the computer shut off so suddenly! Here in NY u can check your results online 4 a small fee, within a week or so I was so scared 2 check it but........... I PASSED! The myth that if u get the last question wrong u fail is FALSE, FALSE, FALSE! NCLEX determines if u pass/fail based on the amount of questions u get right or wrong so for instance if u get alot of questions right by the time u r on your 85th question u will pass if u get 2 many questions wrong by the time u reach question 85 you- u know:sniff: dontfocus on failing of course your gonna feel like u failed I don't know anyone who walked outta NCLEX brimming with surefire confidence! I so felt like I failed, oh man I was going over the questions in my head like a mad woman but I passed, cried, breathed a sigh of relief I was holdin back 4,2 weeks and moved on! Goooood LUcccck!

I have heard that too about the NCLEX, as well as management questions.

Live and learn - I heard that Linda Silvestri's books are the best.
Don't give up!
